[h=6]Bay Area Vapers!!!! SHOW UP FOR THIS!!!

City of Alameda is trying to pass a law that would prohibit not only smoking but using personal vaporizers in work places, public places, and even multi-unit housing. There is a meeting on Tuesday, November 1st at 7:00 p.m. We encourage ALL of the Bay Area ecig users to show up.

Does it affect you? It WILL. When one place passes a law of this nature, it is ALWAYS a springboard for other cities to follow their lead.

Be the 99% that shows up for THIS fight too! E-mail me if you would like more information. geoff@tastyvapor.us
[/h]This ordinance would ban e-cigarette use in indoor places of employment, outdoor public spaces, new units of common interest complexes, and multi-unit housing.

The council will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, in the third floor council chambers at City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Ave. Additional details in the below e-mail.

This is the thread on the Seattle Public Housing Authority choosing not to ban e-cigarette use in low-income housing: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...g-e-cigarettes-low-income-public-housing.html

Well, because of the stink I, one of my co-workers and one other gentleman raised, it was decided by the city council to leave electronic cigarettes off of the ordinance until they had more information. Apparently the person writing the ordinance just lumped e-cigs in with the paperwork based on what some other county had passed.

this is why it is CRUCIAL that people take an active part in this sort of thing. When an ordinance, law, etc. passes, it is usually the result of a lack of public response when these things are discussed. People never have a problem until AFTER the fact. If people care about their continued ability to vape in public, indoors, etc., you'll have to do more than care after your rights have been taken away.

My worry is Alameda being a leaping point for the COUNTY to pass ordinances based on what the City of Alameda is able to accomplish. If we have enough people fighting these things BEFORE they simply slip through in city council meetings, they're a lot more likely to take notice.

But which would YOU treat with a higher level of respect?

a. The individuals who show up in city council meetings and contested ordinances in a clear and concise manner?
b. The individuals who show up after an ordinance passes, carrying signs in protest of the decision?

Showing up to these meetings simply shows them the level of respect that you are dealing with them on their terms and in their arena. And they WILL listen.
