Hey ECF,

I just opened a thread about Clapton's because i'm having no luck with them, so maybe we can start posting photos of your clapton builds and info on the builds plus your mod settings.

My 2 builds are below, both have been trashed because they were no bueno!; the green rda is the Aeolus Lite and I have a 316 Stainless Steel 6 wrap on a 2.5mm bit coming in at 0.21 ohms. (I've tried multiple settings 70watts, 400-500 F., the build is trash and burns the wick)

Let me know if you have any ideas for me!

The second photo is the Kennedy 22 Competition RDA, 6 wraps on a 3mm bit coming in at 0.4 ohms i believe and at 80 watts which was 6v.

Well, no matter the build, Burning is Not wicking enough and nothing more.
Higher the wattage the more the wick needs to transfer to cook the coil. That and good air flow.

I've been having minor issues with Clapton - off flavor - but believe the RDA may not have been clean enough. Reworking after a second cleaning.

Did you bump test to check for Hot spots?

never heard of the bump test, but then again i've only worked with Twisted Kanthal builds and regular Kanthal builds, nothing more, and these are my first ever Clapton's. I was told on a different forum that i probably over wicked the Kanthal build which is why the spitting and the crappy flavor, so i used slightly less with the SS Clapton and sizzled the juice and started burning right away. All airflow is completely open, and no wick ever touched or is blocking the bottom of the coils.

Current in my Petri v2:

framed staple Clapton'd with 44g underneath a 34g alien wrap. I use it on my subzero mech mod. No burning cotton, no dry hits.

In my Kennedy 24, framed staple alien, 28g/4ply .4x.1mm/.2x.2mm alien wrap. Comes at around .13Ω I believe. Used around 90-120w on my Rolo, but also used it on my Dimitri mod. Again, no burns or dry hits.
Both sets of coils are 3mm ID.
Try using 32g & up if you're making Claptons, anything lower makes the surface area dense as hell and will slow up your ramp time.
