WOW
That's pretty much it in a nutshell - WOW!!

Yesterday was my Dr. Visit set up 'by the State' after inhaling toxic chemicals at work in May. The Dr., a Pulmonary and Critical Medicine Specialist was great.
My blood pressure - good
pulse - good
no wheezing, no lung congestion
x-rays show clear & healthy lungs.
AND
the best part was the funny little breathalizer type tube I had to blow into. Nose plugged and blowing as hard as you can, you continue to exhale for at least 6 seconds.
Normal/healthy range is 80-120
When he told me my result was '105' my immediate response was WOW - after 30 years smoking 1.5 packs a day!
His reply - " you must not have inhaled".

Once the exam was complete I pulled out my ScrewDriver. With his permission, I explained how it works and felt a little stupid when I realized I did not have to 'convince' him that vapor is not the same as smoke.
(what a refreshing change from talking to long time smokers who insist it is:thumb:)

His first comments were 'you can use that anywhere!' At work, in the hospital - and as he put it - "no smoke... just water vapor". We talked about PG - the FDA - and the importance of each user monitoring their usage of a P/V.
I was excited to be able to send him to the page on my website with links to more information organized and easy to find - so he could begin researching for himself.

Who'd a thunk getting hurt at work could end up potentially helping so many other people.

Dang - I wish I would have thought to have him write me a 'note'/permission slip. It would be great to have something actually signed by a Doctor

At 51 - and after so many .... logs - I am celebrating that my signature line is true!

Congrats!!!
And I know how you feel: Just had my first Dr.'s appt since I started vaping. I was having tightness in the chest and was a bit worried. The problem was my blood pressure was TOO LOW.
I'm on a lower dosage of meds and my doctor was fascinated with the PV. Enough he had to show it to another doctor.
I’ve said it before, if you go to the doctor, take you PV and info and make sure the printed material has some links because I’m sure they go home to do a little research.

Good idea JJ2 - I didn't think to bring in written info - just handed him a biz card and was glad the webpage is up with links.
There's so much good info out there - making it easy to find is important as we share the opportunity for others to research and possibly make health changing choices.

The chemical deal at work was a no-brainer..... detergent/bleach mixed via 'vapor' with ammonia/sanitizer. Was totally not happy the state questioned it....
and now thrilled to have had the opportunity to share info with a Dr. who can share with others.

Yes - we are all spokespeople. I need to remember to print more biz cards -- and some that are more directed to the pv's and e-cigs.

I'm going to see how easy it is to make a printable .pdf for my website that lists some basic links. It would give people the option to print and take with them.

Please feel free to share informative links that offer really good basic or updated information.
Post here if you like - and we can all add the benefit of each other's research to 'our story' as we get the word out about vaping.

Doesnt that tell you anything though? How deadly can cigarettes be for you if you smoke almost 2 packs a day for 30 years? Doesn't that ring any bells in the head? no one has any clue what vaping would do you to you after 30 years. So why would you even switch at this point? You should just feel thankful about your genetic makeup and that EXCESSIVE smoking never harmed you. Why now switch to something where you have no idea how its going to effect you? I think for someone who smoke 30 years that heavy, you are better off either cutting down cigarttes, or just quitting them completely.

I guess my point is, If i did something for that much for that long, and it never effected me. Why would I be so GUNG ho, about switching addictions to something more unknown,

Hi Kate and Doots
yup - it's great to hear... and even better to realize that as we make these new choices our bodies can actually begin to heal.

You are both great spokespeople - I've read many of your posts and we truly are 'all in this together'.

All the best to you!
Kathy

Hi Paladinx
Great questions!
I never said smoking didn't affect me.
What I said is that there appears to be no permanent damage.

The bell I hear ringing is specifically when I wake up every morning feeling good. (and feeling sorry for my neighbor who hacks away for about 3 minutes after his first .... log - 3 minutes was just the first round of my usual morning 'sessions')

I'm grateful for no permanent damage - and even more grateful to actully feel and BE healthy 'NOW'.

Que Sera Sera - 'now' is the only reality we have - and my physical 'right now' reality sucked when I was burning .... logs.

Hi Yvilla,
Thanks for checking the webpage out.

I just finished it a couple days ago - and want to continue to add the best info so people can find information easily. This forum is great - and there are so many threads that important information can easily be missed.

As I said before - it would be great to have people post links here.... or PM me with new links -
It's my intention for the webpage to offer new info as it becomes available.

ps - 't' likes it too;-)

Since I hadn't thought to bring written information about vaping I handed the Doctor a business card for my magazine and wrote the web page address dedicated to vaping on the back.

Alternative to Smoking?
Is my gift to you and everyone that is looking for and/or wants to share the information about vaping.

It includes a letter to the FDA from the American Association of Public Health Physicians, a link to the Tobacco Harm Reduction Association, The video created by the Chief of Staff UCLA Santa Monica, Dr. Michael Siegels blog, This Forum and more.

Please feel free to visit that page - share the link and I have set it up so the information can be downloaded and printed for you to have a copy to give anyone you think might bennefit from the information.

Vaping has truly saved my life - NO IFS ANDS OR BUTTS ABOUT IT

Evidently you just don't get it. A lot of people don't. And some people are really hard headed about it. Even when I’ve asked them about something they indulge in that's not all that good for them. All I get is having that candy bar just isn’t the same thing. Or that sugar and caffeine loaded energy drink. Or the alcohol. Or the caffeine. Those fries or other fried foods that is clogging their veins.
What’s your vice? Have more than one?
Why haven’t you given up on it or them?
No, why not? Bet it’s because you enjoy whatever.
Well, I don’t do caffeine. My last drink was eight years ago at my daughters wedding. I smoked. There is, or was, something about smoking that I liked, THAT I ENJOYED. Now with my PV I can enjoy and not have the dangers of tobacco. And since I’ve gotten off the nicotine, I’ve eliminated that too.
And I’m so gun-ho about this because in just a few days of using it, I felt better. So I had a choice, stay on analogs that will get me or staying on the PV which may get me. I’m just playing the odds like any one with a vice---large or small. And even my doctor agrees, the odds are better with the PV.

Faulty logic. Name one thing we don't know about when it comes to vaporizing. Seriously. Long term studies on the inhalation of PG & VG have been conducted. We know what nicotine does.

The OP is healthier now from quitting smoking. I would bet that while continuing to smoke, there would be a wheeze, a crackle, a negative comment from the doctor.

Simply by being former smokers, our risks for cancer have increased. Materials used to make cigarettes are bio-cumulative. Smoking is very unhealthy.

I guess my point is, I don't like uninformed comments.
