So i decided to really clean out my 401 attys. I put them in a shot glass with diet cream soda and they were bubbling away. Some strange white gunk came out of one. Eww! Then I put a small amount of water in a mug and microwaved it for 50 seconds. The water was boiling. I put the attys in there and swirled em around. Finally, i baked my attys at 160 degrees for 7 minutes. Seemed to be dried out pretty good.

I popped my newly cleaned atty on my 401. OMG!!!!!!!!! I don't know what happened, but suddenly I'm getting massive throat hit. It's like night and day from when i first got the 401! I mean the sh** hurts! I gotta be careful now. Now if only the 401 heated up the juice like the 510. Then it would be my perfect ecig, 'cause the taste would be better.

It never fails on me with my 901's. They work fine until I start messing with them. Blow them out or run them under hot water, they NEVER work good again and most of the time they either immediately die or die soon. I've never had any luck with blowing out/cleaning. They will be working just fine and I'll happen to blow one out and it either dies or never works right again. So I just don't mess with them anymore. I use them until they die.

You and me both. I've never touched mine. Four months now and still going strong.

I've never cleaned an atty but I do have to blow them out occasionally. I had to do that today, actually. I was getting no hit from my 510. I thought it was because I've been using my new Prodigy and was just spoiled. But I decided something was definitely wrong. So I blew out a bunch of built-up liquid and general gunk. Worked like new after that.

So outside of blowing them out when needed, I just take them off at night and let them drain on a paper towel. The only atomizer death I've had (so far) was my own fault. I saw what I thought was filler material stuck in the bridge. So I grabbed some tweezers and pulled all of it out. It turns out, I was pulling the wick out from under the bridge. Fried my atomizer and a battery. :(

Actually I find the best method of cleaning my DSE-801 Atty is to occasionally dry smoke it. That means take out the cartridge and very slowly puff on it. That seems to burn all the crud away.
I noticed that it was weakening so I didn't do anything fancy.
Just put it in a bath of Coca Cola for around 3 hours. Than rinsed with water and let dry.
The Atomizer functioned like new after doing that.

Second that, when they get a little weak just puff away without the cart in it for a couple puffs and it works better than new.

For you people that don't touch your attys, what sort of maintainance do you do on them?

I've read that its best to just stand them on some paper towel overnight and let them drain. It's what i've been doing but im on the 2 week mark.

At bedtime, I just set my e-cig down. In the morning, I add a drop or two to the cart, and start my day. That's all there is.

I've never cleaned any of mine before. For 6 months I rotated 6 or 7 901's. Last week I got some new batteries for my Screwdriver because I wasn't getting the vapor or hit on any of my atomizers like they used to. Even new batteries didn't help so I decided to drop them all in a glass of rubbing alcohol. Left them in there for about 4 hours and the alcohol turned a muddy brown. Rinsed them with water, blew them out and let them dry for about an hour. Put a few drops of juice in and they all work like new again.
