Cleaning an automatic battery

Hey Im sure this has been covered elsewhere, I couldnt find it.
Iv got 4 kr808 automatic batteries only two are currently usable.
One battery seems to have a sticky micro switch. was thinking of running hot water in the hole followed by some rubbing alcohol. Before I do this was thinking I should check with the community to see if others have tried.

Success!! Ran hot water down the hole in the battery for about a minute dumped it out then flushed it with rubbing alcohol. Set it up to dry for a couple hours and now its just like new again.

Doing this may run the risk of permanently killing your battery. I was willing to take that risk on a battery that was retired to the junk drawer
