I use the power flush method to clean my cartos and my atomizers, It has worked wonders for me but you do need a large style syringe. I personally had purchased the Johnson Creek Starter kit which came with the large Syringe but I believe you can purchase one at any pharmacy for a couple bucks.

I use the method explained here:
YouTube - Carto Power Flush and PTB Mod

I use a coffee mug 1/3 filled with water, I put the mug with water in the micro for 35 seconds. This gets it really hot but not boiling. I power flush as shown in the video then I dump out the water and repeat the process for a rinse. I happen to own a small air compressor, so after I am done I blow out the atty's and cartos with LOW pressure to speed up the drying process. You could use canned air or a hair dryer or just blow out the excess with your mouth and let them sit for a few hours/overnight. what ever works for you.

I do not dry burn my atomizers or my polyfilled cartomizers as this could damage them, I do however dry burn my non-polyfill cartos (the ceramic ones as shown in the video) and have gotten them to live beyond their designed life expectancy. About 20 refills for me...

I have never done the PTB mod, I primarily use what was shown as a way to clean all my atty and cartos and it works very well for me.

I use heated distilled water (cartomizers DO NOT like my hard well water, I killed some :( ) and force the water through a few times with a baby medicine dropper and adapter like this: Walgreens.Oral Syringe | Walgreens
Then I stick them in a tube sock atty side up and spin the hell out of them to get the excess water out. Works pretty well for me.

I prefer to bake mine at 200 - 250 for 40 minutes to an hour, to speed drying, not give nasties a time to grow. You have to pop off any plastic caps, remove any interior silicone orings, before baking -- they should pop off easily with a fork or nail after soaking in hot water (hold them with a paper towel, since they'll still be hot). Then they just go on a paper towel in the oven. Much higher than 250 may shrivel the carto outer covering.

Silly to do for just a couple, but a batch of 15 or 20 isn't bad. I remove caps, alcohol soak, rinse, then bake.
