I just got the cleaning kit from smoktek and have already cleaned several cartomizers. Absolutely fabulous!

NOTE: if you order the clear coat it will be already on the syringe when you receive it.

I am not a dripper. I prefer to use a cartomizer. With this super easy way to clean them, I can now re-use them and try many different juices.

It's such a simple process and smoktek figured it out and made it available at a good price.

This is such a great time for inventors of the e-cigs and accessories!

What am I doing wrong? I cleaned my cartos with the kit, followed up with vodka, and they still taste bad. How did you guys clean yours?

Honestly, sometimes it's better to toss them. I used to clean mine all the time but lately, haven't. There are some bigger cartos that I clean but it also depends on the juice I use. This kit works well but even a cleaned one won't perform or taste as good as a new one.

I cleaned cartos when I first started as being a po' boy, I hated to toss something that was still "working"...I used the "carto-cleaner" shown and tried the boil/rinse 3 times method and quickly learned, about 50% just weren't gonna clean up properly and the rest had diminished performance compared to when new...I do save a few BUT, by and large just toss 'em...they are cheap enough(compared to the funkies), meant to be used once and disposed of...just love me the taste and performance of a brand new carto...like all things vape related, the choice is yours...and CAVEAT VAPORES............

This is what I found, using the carto cleaner kit:
I started with cartos I had filled with nasty juice, like strawberry that tasted like perfume or soap. I also used some clogged cartos.
I used the cleaner kit with hot distilled water, per the directions.
I followed up with a vodka rinse, per the directions.
I let the cartos dry for 24 hours.

Results:
I refilled the cartos.
The clogged cartos: Still clogged
The nasty strawberry soap cartos: After refilling, the strawberry soap flavor overpowered the new juice.

Un-vapeable!

I've cleaned some cartomisers using various methods & I've found that I only get a day or two more out of them. Then if they had hard draw on them, they become hard to draw on again. I now keep a few soaking in a closed container with everclear in it. I figure if I run out of cartos, I'll clean them to tide me over until new ones arrive. But, I have about 40 cartos of different types on hand.

I guess I'm just too lazy to bother. I get a week or two out of them & they are cheap. It probably costs as much for the everclear & distilled water to clean them as it is to replace them. Factor in my time to do it, it's a no-brained to just replace them.

Cartomizer stuffing cannot be replaced.

If you are trying a bunch pf prefilled sample cartos and want to wash/dry some to put a different juice in, the cleaner is useful as long as you are able to get the cartos fully dry afterwards before re-use.

Alternately, if you have a compatible flavor juice you know you like, and you liked what was in the carto, you can just top the carto off with the compatible juice and the two flavors will blend and eventually the carto will taste mostly like the second flavor. A good vanilla or a good tobacco eliquid are great for getting more use out of sample cartos as long as you like the original flavor in the carto.

BUT if you have used a carto for 7-10 days and have already run 15-20ml of juice through it, the cleaner is not magically going to make the carto better. It can clean the stuffing fine. It cannot get the very hard baked on layer off the cartomizer's heating coil. I use only thin totally clear juices that drop no flavoring sediment and do not stain the carto stuffing. After 10 days use my carto stuffing is still clean and and goes white when the fluid level is low. but the carto is still degraded because of the baked-on coating on the coil.

And I recommend you never use cartomizers to test juices you have not tried. Save your cartomizers for juices you know you like. Test juices on a sealed manual battery with an atomizer and drip tip. If you have a KR808D-1 (like V4L, Volt, Bloog. G6, etc) use a standard resistance DSE901 atomizer and drip tip on a manual KR808D-1 battery (atomizer and drip tip available at LiteCigUSA.net)
