Cleaning Cartos?

Can I just run them under hot water?
I have one that I haven't used in a few days and I think it got gunked up. The draw is a little harder than usual.

I personally soak them in vodka overnight then let them dry out for a day before refilling. You might make sure you have a clear hole through the middle if they are drawing bad. I have found that the packing sometimes gets displaced and they draw poorly. I just use a toothpick to rearrange the inner packing and get them drawing better.

You might make sure you have a clear hole through the middle if they are drawing bad. I have found that the packing sometimes gets displaced and they draw poorly. I just use a toothpick to rearrange the inner packing and get them drawing better.

That works fine with cartos made with a vertical atty wire running down the middle hole(like V4L's Boge Wow or Coolcart blanks) but I'm having trouble cleaning the cartos with a horizontal atty wire that sits right at the bottom of it. There isn't enough room, with it in the way, to place a paper clip or toothpick through the center hole. Anyone else have experience with this type of carto (nhaler mega and bloog maxx fusion are both made this way)

The toothpick worked in my Boge carto. Actually, I stuck it in the hole in the filler, and then in the hole on the outside of the atty. It draws clearer now.

Also, what is the atty wire for? does it act as a wick?

I bought a Habor Frieght sonic cleaner and use vodka to clean both my attys and my carts. If the atty was really gunked up I then put it in boiling water for 20 minutes and then another bath in the ultrasonic cleaner.

I soak mine in 91% alcohol (the purer the alcohol the faster they dry out) for an hour or so, blow through them to get most of the alcohol out, let them dry for a few hours and refill.
