i just got the cheapest bottle i could find..i will try soaking a few tonite. and let them dry out tomorrow after work for a few days..
With vodka or everclear, it won't take long for them to dry. I've never waited more than 24 hrs, and have used them as soon as a few hours after taking them out of everclear (the higher the proof, the faster they'll dry)

So you folks are being serious about using vodka to soak the coils in? Even after a few days of air drying wont the alcohol stay in the coil?

Yes! I use a vodka/water solution. Let them soak at least 3-4 hours, rinse well and air dry over night. I have had great success with this method and no the alcohol won't stay in the coil as long as you rinse it well.

and this is why I got some RTA's too much trouble cleaning ... its easier to dry burn the coil and rewick :)

That's no longer an option for my RTAs. You can't dry burn a nickel coil.

Well, you can, but it can damage the coil and releases toxic fumes. You SHOULDN'T dry burn a nickel coil. But then again, with temperature control coils you don't get the caked on carbon residue that you get with kanthal, so dry burning isn't necessary anyways.

As for my premade coils, I soak those in distilled water for a day or so and then let air dry for a week. It usually extends the life of the coil by another 50% before I throw them away, but considering how cheap they are and the fact that most of my premade coils last a month or more before the cleaning, it doesn't bother me to throw them away. Seems kind of silly to worry about a $2 coil when I spend over $2,000 on car tires every year.

When I still used them I would sometimes put them in a little jar with vodka, swirl them around and then leave them to soak overnight. After that I would air-dry them in a sunny spot for a couple of days. Not perfect but not bad either. Other times, when the material inside started tasting bad I would take them apart and recoil/rewick. Again, not always perfect but good enough. I have now completely switched to rebuildables though I still have the tanks and a good supply of new coil heads - for the day after. :)

Alcohol is better than water. Water is slow drying (at least one day), may have some bacterial growth... Alcohol evaporates fast and completely.

Rinse? I never rinse out the alcohol - it evaporates cleanly, so there's no need. If I were to rinse, I would definitely use distilled water, as any other kind of water would have chlorine or minerals or something else I don't want in my vape.

I agree about the minerals and other "stuff" that may be in the water. I do use distilled water though.
