Cleaning the UFS

What's the best way to clean the UFS? How often should it be done?

I ask because I was cleaning mine and the clear window is so gunked up from this juice I was using. It was like glue. I still can't get it off and I'd like to know what is gonna clean the clear window without damaging it. I know rubbing alcohol isn't a good idea as someone posted that it made the window cloudy. Anyone ever experience this?

Have you tried some simple dish soap with hot water?

Hot water will cause little tiy cracks in acrylic... there's a term for it, just can't remember

Fatigue or stress cracks:
Many factors will accelerate this naturally occurring embrittlment process including:
stress concentration (notch sensitivity),
increase in temperature,
cyclic loading (dynamic fatigue)
contact with specific chemical environments (ESC).

I have a mild case of COPD so I am always on the guard against respiratory viruses, hence I take the UFS completely apart after every third tank and wipe everything down with a paper towel and Walgreens Isopropyl Alcohol Wipes 70% (which are large 5" x 7" wipes). I have used 70% and 91% alcohol without any clouding of the window.

I've tried the warm water with dish soap to no avail. I cannot believe how sticky this stuff is. It's like the glue on the usps boxes. Perhaps from the heating of a very sweet juice. I was reading somewhere that someone uses vodka to clean the acrylic window. Is that better than isopropyl?

Warm water and a small rag is all is use. What juice are you using? Maybe oil based flavoring or sugar in the flavoring did this. I'm just guessing though.

I think you're right silentt. I am using atomic cinnacide by TV. I am in awe at what this juice did...

I think it should be placed on the UFSDNV list - Do Not Vape list for UFS...

Well there is your problem casual. AC wreaks havoc on the clearomizers and have seen it destroy some other "tank" mods that are (were) clear. It is most likely doing the same to your clear UFS piece. If I was to vape that stuff, I would only vape it in a SS tank. I would highly suggest getting the SS UFS piece from Bruce for Atomic Cinnacide.

Trust me A/C isn't that important to me...

1. How do I clean it off?

2. Are there any other juices like it out there that are similar that should NOT be used?

I think I would be more concerned about the juice since your ingesting this substance.
If you can't clean it with water, it should be a very big concern to you.
Try Goo Gone.

Well tonight I'm gonna go to Home Depot. I already checked and they have Noalox as well as Goo Gone. I'm gonna pick them both up and see if I can't clean my tank window and grease the threads.

Thanks for that link wylie, and @casual when I went to home depot the people had no idea what noalox was so I can give you a heads up that it is in the electrical section near those wire-nut things that are used for splicing wires together.

Oh yeah and you know not to use noalox anywhere that the juice will come into contact with it right? You need to use vaseline for those areas.

I've used dishwashing liquid once without any problem, but I usually clean inside the UFS just by using tap water. I do not think you have to clean inside the UFS often unless you change the flavor of the liquid.

Edit. nvm.. I just saw that you've already used dishwashing liquid. I cannot imagine how that happened. Maybe you are using bad e liquid?? For me, tap water is enough. The E liquid I use is FSUSA, Halo, or Jonhson Creek.

I think the only way to clean that gummy stuff off from your UFS is to repeat cleaning with dishwashing liquid. If you still cannot clean it off, you can get extra windows. But I think you still can use it without worrying about the sticky stuff if you've cleaned it enough. But I would avoid using the same liquid.
