I’ve tried a few back in the day. I liked the EVOD best myself. The nautilus is only a clearo by some definitions though. In modern parlance it would be a replacable cartridge tank.
If you’re including the nautilus it beats everything else. The bvc coil is so good it’s still being used in modern devices. They’re mostly too wide to fit neatly on a 14mm ego battery with its old fashioned double threaded ego connector though. I suppose it’s possible to find a nautilus tank with an ego bottom connector. I wouldn’t know where to look though.

Of the ones that you've mentioned (on an ego) I would go with a MINI Nautilus. The K1 I'm told is a good tank. The coils for the K1 and Nautilus share identical guts but the casings are different. Soooo while the coils aren't interchangeable they do perform pretty much the same.

Of the older style tanks/clearos these would be my personal preference. They use the same coils as the K1.

If you really want to stay leak free my final recommendation would be the latest evolutions of the GS tanks from Eleaf. The GS Drive or GS Baby are both fine tanks. The Drive offers top-fill if that interests you. Both offer excellent AFC I don't believe any of the others mentioned offer.

On an ego battery you will need to stay at or above 1.5 ohm with the coils for any of these tanks.

Just wrote this in OP's other thread...

Frankly, I would not recommend CE4s to anyone. Old technology and some studies showed that they tend to overheat and lead to juice degradation, resulting in increased amounts of formaldehyde and other nasties in your vapor.

I'd recommend something like Kanger T4, eVod, or Aerotank mini--if you want a clearomizer that is similar in diameter to you eGos (14mm diameter). Anything larger than that, like Nautilus mini, will have that dreaded overhang. It will work, it will just look odd and you'll probably want to to get a beauty ring as seen in the picture below. If you don't mind the larger diameter (18 mm) of the Nautilus, that would be my choice.

If you don't want to deal with that, I think you should consider getting a small Variable Wattage box mod like an iStick 30--it's tiny, dependable, and you can use any atomizer you want on it--up to 24 mm diameter. I love mine and it was the mod that helped me transition from eGos and tube-style mods to box mods. I never looked back. :)
  • Size: 77mm x 23mm x 32.5mm
  • Color: Black Silver Fuchsia Blue
  • Voltage output: 2.0V – 8.0V
  • Wattage output: 5W – 30W
  • Threading: 510 spring loaded connection with stainless steel threading
  • 2200mAh battery

Another vote for Aspire stuff. The K1 is good (but airy), but the Nautilus can be adjusted for a tighter draw. The mini Nautilus with its beauty ring on an eGo battery is a giggle, but it works.

The eLeaf GS range has a couple of new coils that could be worth a shot. One is 1.6 ohm and might be ideal for an eGo battery.

Does a non vv battery have enough power for something like the mini or k1?

First of all I agree with @sonicbomb. Exploring the world of ancient vaping hardware is full of weird pitfalls. Simply avoiding the issue and buying new is a lot simpler.

That said it sounds like you’re skint enough that that isn’t an option.

If by k1 you mean the aspire k1 that uses bvc coils and by non VV battery you mean an ego battery then yes, probably anyway. as long as you put a non sub ohm coil in it. There are lots and lots of types of bvc coils these days. Many more than when the k1 was designed.
The ego battery is kind of a miniature semiprotected mech mod. It will dump it’s somewhat anemic little heart into whatever coil you connect it to till it runs out of go. Because it’s effectively a mech though it may be possible to find a low enough resistance bvc coil to make it very unhappy.

that would be bad.

It’s possible I suppose that aspire has special different sized bvc coils just for attys like the aspire k1. The thing looks awful small in the picture I’m looking at. AFAIK though any BVC coil will fit in any BVC atty. not sure about that though.

Personally I found ego battery recharging to be an unending nightmare. There are unmarked compatibility issues between individual batteries and individual chargers.

IF you have the charger that the batteries originally came with (and if the batteries are even still good. No promises) you should be able to charge them. If you DON’T it’s basically dumb luck if you can get a charger that won’t kill either the battery or itself (I’ve had both happen) on contact or simply refuse to charge, in which case it will merely look exactly like you killed it.

UPDATE: lol! In the time it took me to compose that mess I got ninja posted by no less than 3 people all of whom had better answers than I did.

I don’t know whether to erase this post or leave it up as a monument to my own limitations.

The stuff about batteries is at least useful. I’ll leave it.

I agree with @bombastinator , for clearo's the EVOD is a solid choice but it does have the drawback of a plastic window. Which is fine as long as you don't use any tank cracker juices. However if you want an EVOD style but with a glass window that can handle tank cracker juices then try the SMOK ARO. I used ARO's for a long time before I got my first real tank.

And the older gear is (relatively) cheap for just delving in.

An iStick 30 with a GS Tank may also be considered "older gear," but it's so much more user-friendly and provides a lot of room to grow. I still use my iStick 30 with GS tanks. Plug and play--and a great vape.

THIS I can relate to!!! ;) And it gives me a strong desire to help you out. IF YOU'RE IN THE STATES, I could put together a 'care package' for you?

I have several working VV EGOS, chargers, beauty rings, some of the et-bvc clearos with coils. Maybe some other odds and ends. Would please me immensely to see them go to someone who appreciate them!
Do not post an address here! A simple yes or 'no thank you' will suffice. If yes I'll PM you for an addy.

I do need an answer rather quickly. I happen to be home right now, maybe tomorrow also. Otherwise it will be weeks until I get home again.

Well I did use them successfully for about a year, maybe a bit longer. Although to be fair I don't know if they are even still available, so it may not even matter.
So did I. I was shocked when my sister showed up with one a few years ago. They’re still out there it seems. Imho they were the best device on the market for a good while. Then the nautilus came out and pwned everything not RBA. I was already off messing with RTAs and barely not burning a hole in my leg using them with unvented mechs which were the new hotness at the time. I never used a nautilus myself. I did buy my sister a nautilus2 as soon as I could get her to take one from me though.

It never ceases to amaze me how subjective everything in vaping is. I tried the Aros and the Aspire stuff, never really worked for me. I went the Kanger route all the way--from KR808 cartos to Kanger's T3 and T4 clearos, Evods, Protank, Aerotank, EMOW, and finally the Subtank mini. But I use my leftover Aspire BVC coils in my Subtank when I want a nice and tight MTL vape. ;)

The Aros are still available:

I swear I read EVOD when I replied to that. I never vaped an AROS. I thought I was talking about EVODs. Clearly it’s past my bedtime.
