Looked around a bit and i seem to have a DCT. People seem to have leakage and flooding issues with these, are they really that big of a pain?
IMO, they are, but don't take my word for it. They're not the pain in the way you're describing and if everything comes together, they're not terrible.
First of all, you are using a cartomizer tank. That cylinder inside is a cartomizer and it slides in and out of that yellow tank. The first thing you have to do is sufficiently fill that cartomizer. If you don't, it will burn and be ruined. When the cartomizer is filled, you slide it into the bottom hole of the tank. Before it goes through the top hole of the tank, you fill the tank a little more than 3/4 of the way up. Then you slide the cartomizer the rest of the way to the top of the tank and through the top hole. There should be a lip at the bottom of the cartomizer to keep you from sliding it too far up. When that lip contacts the bottom "cap" of the tank, the top of the cartomizer will be sticking out of the top of the tank.
As you vape, juice will seep into the little hole in the cartomizer from the tank. This will replace the juice that gets used up as you vape. That's the way it's supposed to work. If the juice is too thick, it won't seep in fast enough to replace what you're vaping. Then the cartomizer will gradually go dry and you will see a drop off in the amount of vapor, or you may even get a burnt taste if it gets too dry. To fix that, you might have to enlarge the hole or punch another hole or get a two hole cartomizer. If your juice is too thin, the cartomizer may flood and you'll get gurgling. It takes some practice to match your cartomizer to your juice. If your juice is fairly thin, it will probably work o.k. without modifying anything.
You need to go to Youtube and look for videos on two subjects. The first one is filling the cartomizer properly. This is crucial and the most important part of the whole thing. Nothing will work right if that cartomizer isn't fully filled before you fill up your tank. There are several methods to do this. You can drip it staight into the filling at the top or you can use a syringe or you can use the "condom method". I prefer the condom method but, whatever you do, you have to fill it to the point of total saturation. It will take at the very least 35-40 drops to fill the kind of carto you have in a DCT tank. With the condom method, you don't need to count drops or mess with needles. Search for "condom method". No, you won't be taking a trip to the drugstore. It's not that kind of condom.
The second video you need to find is one to show you how to fill a cartomizer tank. Just use the search terms "fill tank" or "fill DCT tank" or something like that. There are only about a million of them to choose from. Watch a couple until you understand what's going on. It's a lot easier to do than to describe in words.
