I'm new to vape talk so bear with me. Apparently my evape kit has 2 510 threaded ego batteries with clearomizers. I put a new one on today as the other one was gunky. This is a new tank but does not vape well, inconsistent and tastes weird and burned. I've been told my clearomizers are garbage and ismoka was recommended by a vendor. Are there other tanks I can use instead, perhaps bottom coil instead of top? Also, I bought new juices and read afterwards that dark juice can gunk up tanks, you need aluminum or glass. Any suggestions as to what to buy and best price would be appreciated, thanks!

I didn't know you had to clean them first. I don't know who makes them. I ordered them from the jerks who sold it to me til i figured out what else I could buy. The other 2 that came with it didn't last long. I'm still learning how to clean and maintain. They told me nothing except fill and huff.

Ok, well being angry won't do ya much good. Everyone stumbles on the path to the perfect vape, if its only once, youre quite lucky.

Lets try and focus on trying to get any use out of your current kit while you figure out/wait for new gear.

You say you have an ego battery (cigar sized), correct?

What does the clearomizer look like? Is it a pen style CE4 or something similar?

Never cleaned any new tank or clearomizer ever after 10 months and never needed too..and never had a burned taste from a new clearo...and use T3's..MT3's..Evods...Ce4s..Ce5's.,,,,etc...

U may be using some really thick juice like citrus flavors etc on a plastic clearo that's gunking up a ce4..CE4 are fine with most all juices and higher PG's, but not all..

also U may be using a VV battery cranked up to 4.8V and running that juice down too low and burning up that juice..

A few things you said don't seem to have been clearly addressed -
1) YES you can try some other clearomizers if you have EGO batteries. A LOT of people like the EVOD. A lot of people like the ProTank or ProTank Mini (the mini is Ego-sized, the big one is...bigger - it comes with a collar that flares out to it's diameter). That's the good thing about an Ego - you can use almost anything you like to feed the juice.

2) Glass isn't needed for "gunky" or dark juices - glass IS needed for certain juices that can corrode plastic. Do a search for "corrosive juice" to find a list. Things like cinnamon, or acidic flavors (lemon?) tend to require glass.

3) What gets gunked is the COIL - on many clearomizers, that's easily replaced for like $1, and you wear them out - but you CAN and SHOULD clean them to keep them going before that. Hot water rinse does it for me with my light juices. If you are vaping chocolate or coffee, you may want to learn more about cleaning gunk off a coil with a "dry burn" and maybe a vodka soak...

4) What probably caused your burnt taste with a new clearomizer was not getting enough juice to the coil before you started vaping. How to do that, and how hard or easy it is depends on your model - which I don't know. Some models (like the EVOD I suggested above) all it takes is a couple puffs without pushing the button, and you're usually all set. Once your coil has a burnt flavor, it may not go away - depends how bad it is...

I have had many problems myself and have made many newbie mistakes. I too was recommended the cheapo Ismoka for VG juice no less -- which is OK if you don't need glass and are using higher than 50/50 PG/VG. I'm not saying it doesn't work well but flavor of the month recommendations are bad when they aren't suiting the customer. I wonder if was the same place.

Well, I'm new at this and needed a clearomizer for dummies as I burnt stuff too (more so with a DCT)-- I love the Kanger Evod (just keep voltage low (the ego-t seems perfect ...seems I have trouble over 3.8v with my Twist) and get the 2.0+ Ohm atomizer head replacements. Some of the 1.8s are still on the market: there is a new head for it that will fit certain Pro Tanks as well.

I still have problems with 100% VG juice but assuming you're not, the Evod is the bomb (in my opinion) and inexpensive. It is made by Kanger.

Feel free to correct any errors I made but otherwise it seems to have very good reviews.
I also had the iClear 16/30 recommended to me and am giving that a try asap for my VG juice.

Good luck.

P.S. Allegedly the Evod doesn't work well with really thin juice, without modification. I'm not sure what qualifies as that.

P.S.S. The atomizer heads were $1.75- $2 depending where you shop. The newer ones are about $2.50 average.
