It depends on the clone. Some clones are 1:1, some are better, and some are worse. Do your research and look at reviews for that particular item if possible. Always pay the extra buck to buy from a reputable clone manufacturer if the opportunity is present. It's not a guarantee that you'll get a good clone, but it is usually a good indicator. Then again that falls back on the review research again.

There's lots of reviews yet... I just ordered some FT clones but I haven't used them yet... there's a few caveats you should prepare for with clones:

Thoroughly was them as there may be residue from machining or oil on the parts.
prepare to replace o-rings... often RDAs & RBAs come with broken o-rings, and they break/ stretch easier than the originals
in the case of RBA/RDAs the post holes may be smaller/ misaligned
Some post screws are not SS and may rust... I plan on replacing all clones screws with SS from local lowes as soon as I know the threading to be safe.

I haven't seen a single review on any clone from a credible source that says that the quality is "just as good on the clones" but I think it's a great way to dip your toe into RDA/RBAs imo... ymmv

There's more "trusted" (used the term loosely) companies that make clones such as tobeco which are regarded superior to fasttech for example, lean towards those if you can.

find a setup you like and research the reviews on the clones before you purchase. Happy vaping!

I personally started on authentic's since there wasn't a huge market for clones back then. I own both now and some clones do make improvements over the original's, some are crappy and not worth the cheap price tag and others are on par with the original's. It all depends on which one you are looking at. I have ordered from places like fasttech and certain things do come out better. Mod's I never had any issue with, rba's were a whole other story(this was last year, so it may have gotten better).

Keep in mind that if this is your first one, you may want to find relatively inexpensive items as it may not be for you. My buddy went out and purchased a really nice authentic mod and topper. Only to find out he didn't care for it, now it just sit's there and he uses his mvp daily.

If you are new I would recommend a clone. For the simple reason that if you do not like it you have a $20 paperweight with the clone and a $150 paperweight with the real.

It also depends on what you want. The clone may have rougher threads, o rings that are a little thinner, etc. but how much is that worth to you? $30 VS $130 is a big difference. There is also the whole moral thing, the clone guys ripped off the design. The real might come form the US, or some other country (China has some real stuff too).

I too would recommend a clone for the very first buy. After going through two in about 4 months I upgraded after much investigation I landed on the TOBH 2.5 authentic. I have had it for about 6 months I would recommend it to anyone and have not had one bad thing to say about it. Great airflow control and well. I was a center post sleeper guy and can still get my builds just where I want them.
