I must say that I did not sign it and this is why. If we all remember back to the law suit the reason the FDA was unable to gain control over the e-cig industry is because the companies were able to prove that they were not marketed as nicotine replacement
devices. If we sign this it shows the government that we indeed consider this an alternative to smoking thus making it a nicotine replacement
device. If apples = apples and oranges = oranges this means the FDA will have a stronger foothold for implementing it's control over the e-cig market. The Petition says it is to promote jobs in this market. However, this job promotion may not be at the level we expect it to be i.e. FDA regulatory commissions and such. As I am always skeptical of the government I will not be signing this because it seems we are doing just fine as it is. I sincerely doubt that this is meant to promote small business growth in the e-cig "market" as There are no restrictions stopping someone from creating devices and
juice as we see by the multitude of vendors already in the market. I fear that this is a government attempt to give the FDA more to stand on to take the control of the industry thus creating more "federal" jobs in the form of lab techs and government regulated distribution which is something we all do not want. It stops our freedom to order from who we want and create our own juices as well.
This is all speculation of course and I may be completely off the mark but in my experience if it seems too good to be true...
I will abstain and see where the chips fall.
Do we even know who sponsored this petition?
