Hope you did too! Temp got up to low 70's here yesterday. I LOVED it. Spring really is just around the corner. :)

it was an okay weekend. My Butters got stood up for his doggie play date yesterday and he was very sad. My husband kept mentioning the other dogs name and he would get all excited and then mope around...poor guy.

it's one thing when my friend bails on me but it's another when he does it to Butters.

yes. that sweet face is my fur baby. He's a rescue and he has some issues so the play dates are a big deal for him and his confidence building.

I hear you. I'm a big fan of rescues! All of my pets were rescued either by myself or a shelter. Most of them had socialization issues too. Here's my current fur baby .... rescued her off of facebook! LOL!

I've always been a big dog person, but she totally hit it off with my son as soon as I brought her home, I knew she was a keeper! Lot's of work and retraining, but it was so worth it :)

Is it possible for the moderators here to put my picks for this round back on the board? I am going to be taking a break from ECF for a while and I would like others to be able to pick the numbers I have already picked.

I have had a good time playing this game and am extremely grateful for the prizes I have won, and I fully support GotVapes and will continue to shop there.

We will miss you sweetie but do understand having to step away sometimes. Hopefully you will be able to stop in occasionally.

Thats awesome! my 2 cats are rescues also. our dog was abused and neglected before he came to us. He was found chained inside a tote crate in the middle of the road. My mother in law works for the police department that responded to the call. I have friends that work with pit rescues and when she sent me his photo I was done for. He was 15 weeks old and his bones were all sticking out but that sweet face just stole my heart. I visited the shelter several times before he was available and they were happy to let him come home with us.
He missed the important socialization period while held up in the system.
He's great with us and close family he met when he was little but he is very fearful of strangers and new people so he has a tendency to nip out of fear. It's not easy but I know one day he will be a great dog as long as we put in the time he needs. He's 2 now so just a few more years....lol

Oh no! That poor guy! He's so lucky he found you! I just don't understand why people think it's okay to abuse animals. If you can't treat them properly, you shouldn't have them! Lots of walking and exposure to busy situations will be good for him. My little girl spent the first 2 years of her life in a crate. People "didn't have time" for her. She was very fearful of practically everything, wasn't housebroken, and had insane amounts of penned up energy. The remedy was lots of exercise and exposure to lots of different situations on a regular basis (including 4th of July fireworks and parades!) with lots of positive reinforcement. It's been about 2 years now and she's fantastic!

I agree on all fronts. People are creatures I will never understand. I'm glad that yours is doing so well! I would say bubs is house trained but he still excite-pees. His house accidents decreased greatly after we had our hardwood floors refinished. (30 years of previous owners pet stains) Now it's just when he's excited THANK GAWD.
He hates the cold so walks are brief right now but we do lots of inside fun to get the energy out. I can't wait until the spring so we can get back to the usual schedule. I also have great friends that love pits and help us with social skills!

Yes, the weather is definitely a damper. I bought a jacket for mine, which helps some, but if shes not moving, she shakes really bad. Have you tried taking a ride to a local pet friendly store just to walk around? Sometimes we just have to trade physical energy outlets for mental outlets. When you use your brain a lot, you get tired out also. The same is true for our fur friends. ie; A new toy or puzzle, learning a new trick, etc.

Now the excitement ...... is a tricky one, because they are not usually aware they are doing it. I'm sure there's lots of good info on the web. I think the trick is to find a way to decrease their level of excitement. Usually, if they are more tired from mental or physical activity, they are less likely to reach that level of excitement that causes them to leak.

Sounds like you've been doing a great job with him so far :D
