Here is my review of the map tank mod from Clouds of Vapor:
I ordered one of these because it just looked cool, and convenient. I always enjoyed the way clearomizers vaped, but hated how flimsy and low capacity they were. This mod seemed like a no-brainer for me, and for the price, seemed to be one of the cheaper tanks available.
I received my order pretty slowly, but reasonable if they make each one per order. I was excited to get it, and I filled it up right away. Man, was I blown away. It vaped great, had a nice, smooth draw, and one fill would last me all or most of a day of heavy vaping. In performance, convenience, and durability, it rocks.
Now for the bad side. I'll start small.
These things leak. Not so bad that you can't have it in your pocket, and mostly leaks just down to center whole, but it's there, and I've gotten a mouth full of juice more than once. This is remedied fairly well by not filling it completely, but it still happens. If you sit at a disk or drive around all day, this is perfect, probably.
Now for the really bad side.
As is mentioned on the site, this is a hand made mod, so there are slight variances in each one. I expect that, I'm okay with that. Cosmetically. For $25 I DO expect it to work, and last.
After a few weeks of use, it finally started to burn out on me. That's not the mod makers fault, it's the CE-2XL's that are used. Still, 2 weeks for what it costs to chop up another CE2 is no big deal. I did, of course, try my best to keep it clean. This proved difficult as my liquids seemed to steep and turn brown very quickly in the tank, as in, overnight.
I decided it was time to change out the "core" for a fresh one, and I had a pack of CE2XL clearos just for this purpose.
This proved nearly impossible to do.
I could NOT get it out, even after watching several videos on YouTube of how to do it. I knew HOW, it just didn't work. It was far too snug of a fit, and I simply couldn't remove the old CE2. I tried everything, including trying to use a pick and hammer to "chisel" it out (not really chisel, but just tap it and knock it loose). Even that didn't work.
I finally ended up taking my metal chisel, putting the bottom of it on my desk, and using both hands to push to try one last time to see if I could remove the CE2... and remove it I did, along with my thumbnail.
Ouch...
What makes this especially bad, is that I emailed customer service when I was first unable to remove the CE2 explaining my problem. I received an email back linking me to the video I had already watched. I watched it again, and tried it again, several times, with no luck. I emailed back and said I am fully informed as to how it is SUPPOSED to be removed, but that doesn't work because it is too tight.
I have not heard a single WORD back in weeks.
At this point I just want my damn money back.
So do I recommend this mod?
Only if you're comfortable taking a 50/50 chance that you're throwing money away, because I don't think customer service will do a thing for you.
