Hey all,

Been researching for days regarding this mod and decided to get one and have been really excited as where I'm getting one from they will have stock next week :D but today I came across something on the internet about these hana mod clones starting fires internally... There isn't just 1 case regarding this either there's been a few. I wanted to get the dna for the safety of it but this kind of throws it out the window you know?

Couple questions if anyone can answer. Does anyone know if this is cloupors version or the other Chinese (maybe fastech) clone versions?

Also has the cloupor version got short protection?

Any help would be awesome thanks!

Vape on!

I can only tell you what I have been told, and that is that the Cloupor version of the mod DOES have short-circuit protection, and all the other protection features of the real chip, but like the DNA-30D by Evolv, there is no reverse battery protection. I suggest you do a search on YouTube for Cloupor Hana Clone and watch some videos. That's what I did before purchasing. I purchased mine from Driving down the cost of vaping! - 101 Vape. It's my understanding that there were some issues with the first batch of these mods, but the word is that Cloupor has fixed the issues with later batches of the mod. For instance, it used to give an overheat warning way too often, but they say that is now fixed. There were supposedly some issues with the original 510 connection, but that too is supposed to have been fixed as well. I'll know more when I receive the mod. We ordered two of them by Priority Mail in the US, so I expect it to arrive Monday or Tuesday as they are already in transit. I'll let you know more after mine arrive if you'd like. I don't know, but I suspect that the internal fires involved the clone that uses the internal lipo pack. We ordered the LG 2500mah 35A batteries, and I don't expect there will be any issues of that sort, at least I certainly hope not! I have a Protovapor XPV with the real DNA-30D in it, so I'll also be able to compare the two chips side by side.

Edit: Just found this in another thread - it may be helpful to you. http://www.elev8vape.com/blog/

Just because you have short protection for attys doesent mean something else cant short and fry on the circuit board.

Plausible on clones and authentics or anything electronic really. Obviously more likely on the clones. I have had my cloupor for about 3 weeks now. It has all the benign glitches you can read about elsewhere. I temporarily had the phantom screen glitch for a few hours but it seems to have fixed itself.

It is far from perfect but for 70 dollars it is hard to argue with.

Thank you for this!! That info on 101 website was really helpful! :) I'm from the uk so I spoke with a uk supplier yesterday and they said they were getting a batch this week with the 510 connector fixed just wasn't sure if it was causing the shorts or not but now I know :) seems like all issues so far are fixed and I'm sure if any issues down the line due to hardware that they should replace them with a fixed one anyway! I may take the battery out when I go to sleep each night just incase tho.... Lol

Yeah have been looking at loads of videos of the mod on YouTube and excited by it :) yeah I know it hasn't got reverse battery protection so I will ensure battery's are always inserted correctly as I do with my mech anyway. That would be awesome if you could send me a PM once you have yours to let me know how it is? Thanks man :D

Also the problems you had at the start? How was they resolved? Did they replace your unit?

My phantom screen glitch (more or less the screen just stopped working within just 24hrs) resolved itself magically with no input from me at all.
Others pulled their batteries and let the chip reset and that worked. Others have been less fortunate.

I bought mine from Elev8. I contacted them immediately about the problem and they said I could send it back for return and exchange. However, as the issue resolved itself I ended up just keeping it.

If you are buying this for a laugh or already have some other quality mod that suits you as a daily driver OR you are willing/capable of swapping chips and parts on your own, I say jump on in.

If 70 dollars is all you can afford and this is going to be your no.1 device with nothing remotely comparable as a backup (ie I am mostly a mech guy and already had a few mechs before the cloupor) then I say look elsewhere or save up for a genuine Dna mod from a reputable builder

Ah hopefully mine won't have the issue! I've spoke to a few vendors in the uk and I've found one that's selling at a decent price and he says it's the V3 where the issues before are fixed so should be ok!

I wanted a blue one he didn't have any in stock but offered one blue they have that has a little scuff on the back of the unit but it's barely noticeable and is knocked 10 quid off the price :) I might go for it my
Only concern is if it was knocked on transit then some of the internals might have been affected in the long run but ah at that price I should just take the plunge and stop over thinking it :p

I could afford more but kind of hard to spend all that money on an authentic when you can get pretty much the same unit a lot cheaper! I have all my mechs still that I'm sure I'll still use (still unsure how my friends will react to me sucking on a box haha) so I would have back ups that will still give a solid vape so think I will go for it :)

Just make sure if you get a Cloudpor that you get one of the newer ones, they changed the 510 connection and the entire body of the mod itself. Batches shipped out after 6/17 will have a sand blasted finish and a better 510 connection.

Read it straight from the source below, scroll down to their post made on 6/20:

My two Cloupor mods due the phantom thing coming on with out being touched or anything touching the buttons, Its not firing, just the ohm/volts and wattage screen comes, but if I bump one of the up/down button it comes on and changes the value of where it was set before, it not changing the settings when it comes on, just the screen is coming on then goes out, I bought 2 of them, at first they both did it, now its just the one that comes on, it doesn't matter if you have been using them or they have been sitting for hours. It kinda of freaks me out.

My first one from 101vapes had to be sent back due to it not working at all. I got a "too hot" message and after that everything I put on it said "check atomizer". It was an orange one. The replacement is also orange but I thought it was decided they wouldn't be making more of that color so not sure what I have now lol. It does have a different 510 connection that looks better than the first. but, the screws on the back aren't as good as the original.
