I've been smoking Djarum blacks for a few years and really just recently (within the last 1-2yrs) started to smoke them regularly and even at just 3-5cigs a day, I can feel the effect it's having on my lungs and throat. Specifically, I seem to be getting sick more often. Flu, cold, strep throat, etc. And clearly smoking WHILE sick is just a stupid idea, though it can be hard to hold back on sometimes. So when I saw ads for Blu around the internet, I got real interested.

I don't consider myself someone who is addicted to nicotine at all; rather I use smoking as something to busy myself with, especially while driving. I enjoy a social smoke once in awhile, too, but I often spend a weekend inside and never even touch a cigarette nor think about it. It's something I do while driving or at parties.

I have only smoked cloves and the occasional flavored cigar (Jewels usually), and I whenever I try someone else's cigarette, be it menthol or a red or something really light, I find them entirely disgusting. If cloves didn't exist, I wouldn't ever smoke.

So I guess what I'm getting to is I need something with good flavor and little nicotine. An easy draw and a long-lasting battery for long trips on the road. I was entinced by Blue originally because the black e-cig resembled the cloves I'm use to smoking and I'd really like to keep to a black e-cig - I suppose it's a comfort thing, haha.

I've read so many different things in reviews, but I suppose I have a different need in an e-cig than the majority of smokers. I'll prolly use light nicotine fills at first, probably moving to none soon enough. I'm not looking specifically for a clove flavor; just something I can truly like for the taste and not for the nicotine or the "throat hit". I've heard that cooler e-cigs tend to have more flavor so I suppose that's what I'm looking for.

If anyone has suggestions for me that'd be great. The 810 seems the closest to what I'm looking for thus far, but I'm new to this deal so I could be off. There's so many conflicting reviews of everything.

Thank you!

There are multiple vendors with clove juice..I just ordered my first bottle and it should be here in a day or two.

I would steer away from the blu. Its the first ecig I bought and I shipped it back for numerous reasons. The only other ecig ive tried is the 510, but its not the smoothest you can get from what I hear.

As for not wanting a throat hit VG based juice has less of a th and supposedly more flavor? Definitely more vapor if thats a concern..It wasnt in the beginning for me, but I don't feel like I'm doing anything unless I see a cloud!

Every supplier that mixes their own juice has a 0 nicotine option. Since you're not already hooked, I would absolutely go for that. I also smoked Djarum Blacks occasionally when I was younger, and I've been looking for a good equivilent in e-juice. American eLiquid actually has a flavor called Djarum Black, which I bought, but can't recommend. The clove flavor is so strong, it actually makes me gag. I have some tobacco flavored juice on order to cut it with and hopefully bring it down to more sane levels. I'll let you know how that works out.

Basically, there are only two options for the beginner. The 510 makes the most vapor and gives (IMO) the best flavor, especially when dripping. The down side is that the carts don't hold much juice and have a tendency to leak a bit. The KR808 (also called the Vapor King) does away with the hassles of the 510 in exchange for a bit of flavor and vapor production.

The good news is that you can get adapters to use 510 atomizers on KR808 batteries, and vise-versa. If you're going to go that route, I strongly recommend getting the KR808 kit, then get an adapter and attys and carts for the 510. The 510 atty will work well on any battery, but the cartomizers only work well on the higher voltage KR808 battery.

I don't have anything new to add but I will go ahead and voice my opinion, anyways.

I started with the Blu and also shipped it back the next day because it was, in short, a piece of junk. Especially for a beginner (like myself) I would recommend the 510 manual. Gives the best flavor and you really can't go wrong. If your going to be out and about and using it frequently away from home I would have to tell you that the PCC is a must.

There are a multitude of vendors out there that have the clove type of flavor but I'm sure that if you are looking for something tasty you will not have a problem vaping some other flavors like pineapple for example. As stated before, you can get the 0mg nicotine juice which I would recommend if you are not addicted to nicotine.

Happy vaping :D

I bought my e-cig because of the ban on clove cigarettes. I smoked cloves exclusively for more than 20 years and it was very important to me to find a clove flavor I could be happy with. DIY Flavor Shack has a great clove liquid and I credit Dawn for helping me break the smoking habit.
I also wanted to keep things simple and am happy with my V4L VK. I understand that other models I haven't tried produce more vapor but that is less important to me than taste and throat hit, especially since I like to stealth vape at work where all smoking, including e cigarettes, is forbidden. (We are actually not allowed to smoke or vape in our cars once we enter the parking lot.)
I used to chain smoke Djarums while driving and now use a passthrough in the car.

Yea, the blu looks awesome and I did hear lots of good things about the case it came with, but clearly the manufacturing of the e-cig itself is just faulty. Almost everyone has issues with it that I've seen. I'm pretty .... about researching and checking out reviews on anything before I buy it and I'm certainly glad I did that before I wasted my time on the blu.

I suppose I should just jump on the 510 since that's what everyone's saying, haha. :p I'm curious about a few things, though.

I assume the difference between manual/automatic is one has a button? I see tons of view reviews but no one really shows the button itself. I suppose it just seems cooler to just take a hit without worrying about a button, but maybe I'm nitpicking. Is getting an automatic really that much of a difference? Does it drain the battery faster?

Also, what kind of a PCC do you recommend? I suppose I want something that looks the most like a cigarette box.

Thanks for the info guys! This forum is great! :)

Firstly, the difference between the manual and the automatic is, yes, the button. As well, the battery is protected. In the case where you are dripping liquid directly on the bridge of the atomizer it is best to have a manual battery because with the automatics the liquid tends to leak into the unprotected battery and can fry it pretty easily. All the cool kids use the manual anyways ;)

(Go under ECF library and look for the "Direct Dripping Guide". I don't have 15 posts yet so I can't give you a link.)

As for the PCC, you can find it a number of places. They come in all different colors and are about the size of a pack of cigarettes. There are ones made for mega batterys and ones made for regular batterys. I believe there are also some that cannot house the manual battery; make sure to get the right one. Buying from china is cheap, but takes awhile to ship.

Be sure to browse around on a bunch of different sites to find the best prices. Best of luck!

i'll suggest the sp2 with an 801 atty, and the 'kretek' juice from tasty vapor. its as close to kretek as i've tasted (smoked kretek for 7 years). the 801 gives you real smooth flavor with limited throat hit compared to a 510 for example. and the sp2 with a 16340 batt will last you a solid day, especially at your pace. i'll sometimes dip my cart tip into a water/saccharin solution to really enhance the experience.

just so happens kretek will be tasty vapors flavor of the week starting tomorrow, $10 for an ounce.
