Clueless and um....Vaping?

After doing some homework, which I should have done before I bought the CIG, I'm starting to worry that this could be MORE expensive than smoking analogs.......trying to find the right battery/cart combo...the right juices , equipment...etc etc. Cripe. I swear if we could still get flavored cigs in America, I wouldn't even consider quitting. But the flavors....peach,coffee,pina colada.....It's hard to know if its worth it. I realize the beginning is more expensive.....but.

Startup costs are the most expensive. Once you have batteries and juice attachments for gear, your monthly expenses will be primarily for e-liquid replacement. You can do DIY e-liquids and really save money. I haven't spent a dime on anything vaping related for two months.

Figure that most smokers smoke a pack a day at $5 a day. That's $150 a month right there. You can get by for 1/3 that cost just buying liquids a month easy.

Yeah, I agree. 7 weeks in, I'm not quite to the point of spending less. I've settled on a battery I like (itaste 3.0 with my original Vision Spinners as backup) and have plenty of clearos/cartos. But my quest for the right juice is pretty spendy! Need to look into DIY...

Am in total concurrence with the above statements. Take a look at my banner in my signature, and you can see how much I haven't spent on tobacco products \|/ My major complaint is not finding this site before I started to vape. Would of cut my start up cost in half. That's why I sometimes rant when new people ask about vapping, who want to quit, but say a quality device cost to much, and want to get by on the cheap side. I say Do The MATH!!! Carry it out to the final figure too.

I don't know where you can get a pack for $5, even at the reservation I was paying $55-60 for a carton, and that was the cheapest in my state. Last time I looked, a pack was $9.75 at safeway. Sure, my Provari and the Russian rba cost ~$350, ohh, that's way to much, many would say, umm look below. And yes, this month I paid $120 in juice supplies and lab ware, but I have enough base and flavor extracts to make 1500ml of nic juice that's $4 for a 50ml bottle of juice including lab ware. And probably a 10 month supply. And I'll still have enough nic base to do another 1500ml of juice, and just have to buy some more VG and flavor extracts. I have picked up a few cheap rba clones, and 25' of Kanthal 28awg. so talking like ~$60. Oh and a life time supply of cotton balls for $2.50 for my wicks. lol. so looking at an investment of $530 that will cover vapping for 8-10months. According to my banner I haven't spent $1487.63, since I quit buying smokes that puts me $957.63 in the + for the last 5 months. And I can easily justify the lousy cigalikes and mediocre ego's as the cost of education. guessing ~$160 that I spent on school. lol. Still about $800 in the plus. add in juice for 4 1/2 months roughly $150 looking at ~$650 in the plus. Still ahead of the game.

Now I'm pretty much happy with where I am at. May pick up a high end rba for Christmas, but that will be in the form of a gift from my mother, and from my self, figure about $200-$300 price range for a quality Authentic rba, something along the lines of a Steam Turbine or the Bliss or the Stattqualm SQuape. Something to reward my self with. Really liking the SQuape. have to do some more research. lol, that never seams to end.

Ahhh...OK. Thanks madbrad. Nope. The cartomizer unscrews from battery but nothing unscrews from the cartridge/carto. Dang. I'm an idiot for not asking when I got it.

stick something skinny and long in there and carefully force it off,,,,,,,

I did that with my Njoy ones,,,,,,,they did come off.

There are better kits, and eventually you may want one,,,,,,,,,then you can get some blank cartos to fill (and refill) yourself, or a tank or something But for now, anything that keeps you off the smokes is a good thing!

I do recommend stepping down the nic to a much lower level, then you can vape all day and really enjoy it,,,,,,,,,you might want to keep the higher nic for hits in the AM or work breaks, etc, when you won't be able to vape for a while.

nope, doesn't have to be more expensive,,,,,,,

it CAN be if you like to collect mods and hardware

but it doesn't have to be,,,,,,

just set a budget and stick to it,,,,,,,,

it;'s worth it to get a decent Ego kit and at least a few juices you like to start with though,,,,,

then set your budget weekly (or monthly or whatever) to no more than you spent smoking,,,,,,,,it's possible,,,,I did it.

It is in the beginning, till you find what works best for you. Research can help there, as can Youtube videos when you find something that you are interested in. Taking the time to learn how to vape well makes a huge difference too. Once you've found the gear and juices you like, it isn't expensive. Many also DIY juices to reduce the cost even more. your were/are a smoker? 36mg is a bit strong 18-24 is more normal (maybe lower)

I like to suggest this
- Katana Kit
gets your feet wet, learn the ropes, it works then when youtake the next step make a real nice back up

then you always need juice

(By then I should have figured out what I like and bought all of the extras.) My 2014 goal is to cut the expenses way down. If I end up saving before the end of the year I guess I will just need to buy myself a nice Christmas gift.

There are many options out there and it can be confusing. Take time, read here, ask questions and you'll get some great information.

My simple math, 1 pack a day at $7.50ea for 30 days = $225. You can spend less than that to get a decent set up and some juices. After that, each month it's just more juices and supplies, depending on what type of delivery device you get (cartomizer, tank coils, etc). If you're inclined, you can reduce the cost by DYI juices. Now, carry that forward to a year of not smoking = $2,700. You aren't likely to spend that much on stuff and you'll be healthier to boot. That's a nice win to me.
