I've searched for co-op and such, but all I find is a lot of posts mentioning them, none explaining it. What is a co-op? How do you join one and what are the advantages or benefits?

The up-side? You can save money/get big discounts on certain items of interest.
Down-side? Nothing moves quickly in a coop. You risk losing your money. (But ECF tries to minimize the risk.) Coops some times fall through, interest dwindles and the purchase just never happens.
