Code parser not ignoring code tags

Was trying to provide an example in one of the forums using [ code ] and the parser ignored the code tag. Is this by design?

Code:

 void dosomething( void ) {
 // do something
 }
 // call the function
 dosomething() ;

Html:

<h1>this is a heading</h1>

php:

<?php

// Show all information, defaults to INFO_ALL
phpinfo();

?>

See. It parses the BBCode and doesn't leave it alone between the code tags.

Edit -- [ Plain ] didn't work either.

use the noparse tag

I'll break the tags in this example:

[plain] [ noparse ] bb code here [ /noparse] [/plain]
