I've been doing some experimentation with all kinds of materials for cartridge filler and I found that I really like coffee filters the best. Seems that tea bags like to get caught on the metal wicking of the atomizer bridge.

For my 510, I tried all kinds of sizes and what I get the best results from is with a piece of coffee filter cut at 11/16" x 2 1/2" (inches). I roll it a bit tight in the middle and loose the rest of the way.

Just thought I'd share. :)

I've been doing the coffee filters for a couple of weeks and it works for me. When I roll I leave a hole in the middle and roll it loosely. I may try your way of rolling to see if it works better for me.

I tried leaving a hole in the middle but I felt it didn't make enough contact with the bridge on the atomizer. I tried making the coffee filter longer so it's higher up in the cart, and leaving a hole in the middle so it sort of wraps around the atomizer bridge a little, but it seemed to restrict airflow somewhat but it did wet the atomizer sufficiently.

I'm still trying to find the most effective way though but so far the measurements and the way I roll it have had really good result.

I've tried coffee filters and tea bags with no success, and suspected it was due to my rolling technique but didn't know how to adjust for the 510... thanks for posting what works for you, I'll give it a try tonight!

It took me quite a few tries to work out a way that worked, hope it works for you!!

ooohh i'll have to try that when i get my dura c tomorrow. i've got plenty of coffee filters to practice on :D

Heh, I've got like 200 coffee filters I bought at Target :)

I must have went through about 10, trying to work it out!

I'm using teabags and if roll it perfectly and still don't know what that is..they are awesome!..
I do know if too loosely rolled and hole in the middle..the center collapses downwards and I have to keep pulling it up with a tweezer every time I fill..!
I guess I'll try the coffee filter too..but it has to come down to rolling techniques too to see if successful!

When I tried the coffee filters, they leaked all over the place - so I abandoned them and went back to fish filters....

Tell me how you use the fish filter. I got some Fluval, tried it in an 801 and had juice everywhere! Had the thing cut so it was just snug but not compressed at all.

Thought I'd get some input before I tried it in my 501. Do you cut yours to fit loose or tight in the cart?

thanks

I picked up something that looked kinda like a filter at Petco - they called it an alge......something...I can't recall. It kinda looked like a sponge, but when you cut off a hunk and fluff it a bit, it acts like woolen strands..I packed the cart pretty full, and it wicks really well, doesn't drip or leak, either...

I'll stop back at the store tomorrow and verify what I bought - pictures and the whole nine yards.

I also picked up a mechanical filter for fishies - turned out it was a plastic-based filter. Didn't like that at all - the juice when vaped tasted plasticky - I don't recommend that one....

Look forward to hear about. The Fluval is as you describe, plasticky. Stiff, doesn't fluff.
So I'm making do with paper towel for now.

Thanks!

I bought Fluval Water Polishing Pad.

Blue pack, says 2 plus on the right side (in a green band)
has 4 filters in the pack

Removes Fine Particles For Crystal Clear Water

Art. #A-190

Works excellent. I can't tell the difference between it, and the actual stuffing that came in my carts. There is no plastic taste, and no leaking. It's hard to cut, but I use scissors or an exacto knife... cut it the width/ length of the cart and stuff it in... it fans out in layers, just like real filler...

Bought it a Pet Store. Was really cheap.. and should last me a REAL long time :)

I have to say, you have fully renewed my confidence in being able to convert to a full time vaporer.

I have had such horrible luck with using polyfill (melting to the wick, not getting good drainage). Not to mention they are so tedious to make.

So I stuck with dripping, which is quite inconvenient while traveling. And with this cig, it leaks a lot, further dampening my hopes.

I just make a quick one out of a coffee filter and it is working perfectly. It is was better than the filling that comes with the carts. :thumb::thumb::thumb:
