Coil building for "custard" flavor?? Grant's Vanilla Custard?

Well, I got lucky and managed to order myself a couple of bottles of Grant's Vanilla Custard and I'm wondering about building coils specifically to maximize on that custard flavor? The website says they recommend a 1.8ohm coil and that sub-ohm builds "burn" the vapor (at too high a temp) and ruin the flavor. I've never built a coil with that high a resistance for one of my drippers. Just wondering whether anyone else has some insight on coil builds for "custard" flavors in general, and for Grant's Vanilla Custard specifically?

I did find another thread where some people recommended vaping GVC in a tank rather than a dripper. I will try it in my Lemo as well as the Aspire Atlantis; but I really prefer to use my drippers most of the time. Sure hoping some folks that love GVC can give a newbie some advice, so I don't have to waste a bunch of pricey juice to find a build/device that really brings out the flavor. What's the old saying? "A smart man learns from his mistakes; but a WISE man learns from the mistakes of others." Trying to be wise, for once. LOL!

Hope this is the right forum - wasn't sure if this question belonged in the Juice section or here, since I'm actually asking a coil question. If it's the wrong choice, please excuse the error and move it to the right forum.

I vaped 90mls of GVC in a magma using 30g kanthal around a 2.50mmID at around the recommended 1.8ohms-2.2ohms. 5mls was vaped in a Lemo and the other 5 in a Nautilus.

The juice gets very peppery if vaped at lower ohms and as Grant says, it burns the juice.

Find your sweet spot and go with it. It was one of the more enjoyable 2 weeks in my short vaping career. Every now and then I look at the bottle and reminisce. I missed the 28th this month:(

ENJOY!

Resistance isn't actually the factor at play here. A 1.5 ohm coil at 5.7v is hotter than a 0.5 ohm coil at 3.1v. The website was over-simplifying. What they are saying is don't run it too hot, i.e. turn the watts/volt down, for the best flavor.

That being said if you are using a mech the only option is to build a higher ohm coil.

Have to toss my :2c: in.

Coil also HAS to be built to work with the Atomizer being used.

Best to think this through and use a Junk juice for testing coils until you are satisfied it will work.
Magma with Dual coils at .65 would Rip with VC :toast: I know, I make my own version of GVC. :D

I have been vaping a fair amount of Grant's as well as my own DIY custard lately and haven't found a build, tank, RDA, coil, wick, etc. that makes me stop and say WOW yet. I agree that subohming the Grant's changes the flavor and gives it a bit of a bite, some would say peppery I guess, but honestly to my liking that still seems to be best method.

In tanks it seems to be too mild for me, very subtle flavor. In my Reos it seems to burn too quickly and starts to taste more like a bacco juice than a custard, dripping in a dual coil .5ohm build has been my go to with this for a while now and suits me well. Haven't tried setting it up in a genny with a mesh wick, maybe I'll try that next.

Good luck and hope you love it!

Although GVC has been my ADV for quite a while now I'm afraid that I can't offer much about different coil builds. I agree that you can't vape GVC at high wattages without losing that rich custardy taste and instead encountering bitterness and perhaps a peppery taste. I have enjoyed GVC in drippers but I now exclusively use it in a KFL with my standard single coil 1.3ohm 28awg round Kanthal build (six wraps on a 3/32" drill bit) with two strands of cotton yarn that I use with all of my eliquid on mechanical mods.

I can say that GVC gunks up my coils more than almost everything I've tried and it degrades coil performance to the point where I can taste a difference before refilling my tank a second time. I now clean and re-wick my GVC KFL after every tank just to get the best flavor (about once a day). I've heard that Grant's is best vaped with silica but I use cotton exclusively and I love the taste of it in a fresh tank with my cotton build.
