That's what I was thinking. I just bought some stuff to make my own it should be in this weekend or early next week. I had a feeling it was really low ohm because of how hot my topper and k100 were getting. But the weird thing is that my batteries did not get hot at all. I just bought a ohm meter some 28g kanthal and a xtar vp1 charger. Next on my list is a Sony vtc5 battery and possibly a new mod

Where was the K100 getting hot? If it was just under the atty it was probably from the hot atty. If it was anywhere else and the battery was not getting hot, you have dirty (corroded) K100 contact surfaces. Where the heat was should indicate where to look for that. The low resistance build drawing so much current will make that much worse than with a lower power build.

The ohm meter, 28g kanthal and Xtar vp1 are great!

You will not find any real VTC5's right now anywhere. It's important to buy from known good suppliers so you don't get fakes. The only VTCx batt I know of right now is an Xtar branded VTC4 from RTD Vapor. If you will not go below 0.3 ohms, you will do well with Samsung 25R or LG HE2 20 amp batteries. Illumination Supply has the 25R's now for $8 I think.

Thx for the info. What is the difference between a normal Sony vtc4 and the xtar branded one you posted?

There's a lot of good 'How to' youtube vids out there on all of this. Better than all this scary advice. :p

With all due respect, it's not scary Advice but very important advice.
What's scary is, that he is using a 20amp batt with a 0.15ohm build.
Woohoo...a pipe bomb.

What's better than learning how to be safe from a bunch of folks who KNOW how to be safe?
Nobody is trying to scare anybody.
I read advice on these forums over and over again and it all boils down to safety. This cannot be stressed enough.

Good Morning! I think I posted the same thing on another thread, but here goes. YEA... for me the clero tanks were not enough so I bought an RDA, and a mech mod. It took me a month to figure it out.

I checked out vids from Rip Trippers and pics on coilporn. On coil porn there are many examples of what NOT to do as well as some good examples. For batteries I use the efast 35A, IMR 18650. Seems to be longer lasting and a little better hit. They are like $10 online $13 at the vape shop.

During my month of trial and error I tried to find a build that was good for me.
Here are some:
Twisted_24 - Imgur
BIG_ - Imgur
parallel_1-5 wraps - Imgur
Everyday_1 - Imgur
Quad / 26G / 6 wraps - Imgur

http://www.reddit.com/r/Coilporn/

I did not like wrapping on a drill so I bought a cheap small screw driver set from Wal-Mart. My everyday is 26G 7-8 wraps on the mid size screw driver. .43-.53 ohms.
It is nice...... not too hot and battery life is good.

I am not looking to blow clouds just not smoke analogs. Good luck! Take your time. Don't sweat it if you screw up the build unwrap it and do it again. Oh yea I bought 100 feet of kanthol @ Kidney Puncher!

You're welcome :)

As far as I know, nothing. Xtar, a reputable company, has VTC4's wrapped with their wrapper. I have not seen any proof they are VTC4's, but I have also not seen anything that indicates to me they are not. I have a couple of Xtar branded VTC5's and though I have not properly tested them, I've used them on 0.2 ohm builds and they handle that just fine. That's not by any means conclusive, but considering it's Xtar I believe these batteries are the real deal. Xtar VTC5's are nowhere to be found right now.

Also, if there were any real Sony branded VTCx's for sale anywhere I would probably have a preference for them. There are none that I know of, so Xtar VTC4's are the only 30 amp game in town.

I personally don't mind the clones. I don't have $100 for the real deal.
Mech or digital? I personally like just a mechanical. For this it is all about the switch, From I have found magnetic switches are best. Meaning no spring. for my two mech mods I did buy bigger magnets from Fat Daddy's. Work like a champ!
Many shop will let you check them out. hold them and fool with the switch before you buy.
