Good morning to all the builders out there and anyone else. I use steam engine all the time and even sit and dream up different stuff to try. When I try to calculate a staggered framed staple build it makes wire wizard get a little crazy because it's trying to put a wire wrap around each ribbon wire and that is not the case. The total area is enormous and the ohm calculation is off. I use staggered clapton for start. I would like for someone to tell me the correct way to run it through if any.

Correct me if I am wrong, but a Staggered Framed Staple is 2 Claptons framing a Ribbon that is fused together? Difficult keeping on top of all these coil types names.

I’d choose Clapton under Wire Builder. Then choose Parallel and within the Parallel choice, add 2 Clapton, and how many ribbons you want to use. Make sure your wrap spacing is correct

The 2 spaced wrapped 26awg still have to be built as a Clapton. Just make sure your spacing is correct. My above example still holds. Chose Clapton under wire builder. Then chose Parallel and add 8 parallel wires. 2 of those wires will have to be Claptons with the correct spacing, the other 6 will be the ribbons.

Depending on what browser you are using, Steam doesn’t render very well and you may have to scroll to the right to see the little Gear icon to configure the proper spacing. Also, there will always be a variance between Steam and the wire you are using unless you know the exact parameters of the wire and enter that data manually. The more complex a coil is, the wider that variance becomes. So the final model from Steam will not be exact.
