Hey guys, I recently purchased the iclear X.I. and so far I'm loving it. My question though is how should I go about cleaning it's coils. It uses internal wicks so I'm not sure if I should just dry burn it or not. I can't see a way to take apart the coil either but maybe I'm missing somthing. I'm hoping not to spend too much on replacements for it so any help would be greatly appreciated.

While I've not owned that exact setup, I'll admit that I've had absolutely no luck cleaning clearomizer coils.

I wouldn't dry burn anything with a wick in it - you'll just fry the wick and it'll taste like crap.

I've tried rinsing + air dry, soaking in isopropyl 99%, soaking in white vinegar, distilled water, ....

Some worked better than others, but none worked great. To assist in coil longevity, find lighter colored or clearer liquids, or accept that they'll burn up or gunk up. It was this frustration that led me to rebuilding.

From what I watched on you tube a while ago those coils are a pita to rebuild. 2 coils one mounted horizontally above the other, and a nice deep recess on the underside for the centerpin and grommet.

Yes for coils like that and the dual vertical one on top of the other I'd just try for a single coil.
Also in some sub ohm tanks the coils are resistance and non resistance wire soldered together , most people wouldn't bother with that.
