Coil making....galvanized steel wire

Is it possible or even safe to use steel to wrap a coil? I found some 24 gauge galvanized steel wire laying around in my garage and was wondering if it was possible/safe to use for a coil.

Under no circumstances should you use galvanized steel. Not for wicks or coils.

Ask a welder about the poison gases emitted when galvanized steel is heated.
