Hey guys so today just wanted to build my own coil on my kanger pro tank wanted to try it because i want a RBA Tank and i got bored.

so i went to my local vape shop bought some 32 gauge kenthal wire and im pretty sure its 3.0 silica wick, i never asked?

came home i wanted a 3ohm coil, wrapped it 6 times. placed the wick in put my kenthal threw the base and did everything that i pretty much seen on grimm greens youtube video, put it on my provari mini 2.5 for testing ran it at 2.9 volts

and WHAM!!!!!!!!! whole thing set on fire, i got scared really scared. of course i got paranoid thought i screwed my provari

so i got the coil with the pro tank base, i threw it on my vamo just to see what would happen and of course it would not fire

tested my provari with my atomizer it was fine, thank god!

so i made another coil wraped it 4 times checked the ohms it was 1.3 wanted 3 ohm but i figured i wrapped it too much and thats what made the fire, so i fired it and worked awesome! been vaping with my new coil all day on my provari and my juice taste amazing.

Can some one please tell me what the hell i did in the beginning to actually make a fire???? i don't want to do that again

Was the wick still dry when you test fired it?

yesssss it was lol
but i was reading on some one's post on here that you can dry burn a silica wick thats why i done it lol
and i read that same guy post you can dry burn a ss mesh wick as well

and i was doing it so i can fire it and move the coil's around the wick better

but let me know if that was wrong because i will never do it ever again

That is odd, really odd. If the wick was dry and there was no fluid it should not catch on fire. Now when I pull a wick to dry burn my coil (I use cotton so I replace the wicks from time to time or if I am changing flavors) the coil can ignite from the residue left over  <thought that was kinda funny... This is nothing to worry about if it is what happened in your case. Thinking about it this used to happen to me with silica.. dry burn with left over juice and poof! flames. Would happen as the wick started to get dry.

So the burning (crack myself up..) question is was there any left over juice when this happened?

lol Well now i did not clean the tank/head/coil/post did not clean absolutely nothing when doing it lol

i had about 10-20 drops left in my pro tank and i wanted to vape the left over lol
so i just took out the base loosened the post and start adding my kenthal and silica
so there definitely was some old juice on all the parts lol

That should explain it, your ProVari is safe and this is normal. If it happens again just blow out the flame (or you can let it burn for a second or two). The left over residue will ignite, nothing to worry about.

Wow you got back to me FAST
Thanks dude! next time ill clean my tank lol

Always looking out for the Cali's, born in Fresno myself... spent some time in Hayward. Kinda miss the Golden State, but not the heat :2cool:
Yeah I got some friends that live in Fresno

My best friend lives in fowler about 20 - 30 minutes away from Fresno

So I am there alot
i hate going there around winter time though that fog in fowler is SCARY as hell
