If they are the same resistance, make sure the leads are tightened down properly. If one coil is getting full contact on the negative post and the other is only getting partial contact, that will cause one to heat up faster. Also make sure neither coil is touching anything its not supposed to.

If you've made sure they're both exactly the same, and everything is secured properly, and you're not getting a short somewhere and they're still not firing evenly, try running something lightly across the coils. Or put the jig back in and just kind of tweak it a little bit, especially if one isn't lighting fully or from the center out as it should. You can also try pulsing them to get them to light fully.

I also have this issue. I never get it to fire evenly. I thought the whole point of a coil was to get the wraps as close together as possible? Wouldn't strumming it affect that?

Also.. when you do fire said coils is it best to start at a lower wattage and work your up by pulse firing?

Or would it be OK just to go with a high wattage out of the gate?

Unless you're doing a tensioned micro coil, the wraps are likely imperfectly touching, strumming just helps to even that out.

I use a mech so when I'm dry firing, I do it at the wattage that I'm vaping at, but I pulse going from short taps up to a full glow.

So my understanding now.. correct me if I'm wrong..

Any build I'm doing that's not a tensioned micro coil I should strum it a little?

So for example I'm doing a 6 wrap fused clapton... I should get them as close together and tight as I can.. and then strum it a little? Like with my tweezers or something?

I don't have the luxury of a ceramic tweezer yet lol.. so I have to pulse and squeeze with some pliers atm.

I've never used claptons so I'm not sure the same thing applies but with regular micro/contact coils uneven heating is usually due to some wraps touching while others aren't. The strumming seems to break connections where they shouldn't be.

When I wrap a coil I pulse it first, and then if it's not heating as it should, I'll strum it.

Ceramic tweezers are super very helpful for claptons. Theres so much metal in there, its difficult to get even coils without squeezing as its heating. Also, keep in mind that metal changes on a molecular level with too much heat. If it glows bright cherry red, chances are, its not the same metal as you started with. Its best to get the coil as even as possible with as little heat as possible.

there is a build in my CCI Centurion I had just finished working out the hot spots I use tweezers to compress then use the metal backside to strum them while pulsing so that they all light equally just make sure you aren't under power when you strum them or you will cause a short be off the button

Yeah it is quite the producer it's my comp rig believe it or not it's a .25 build even using 2x26g/36g fused claptons in a quad configuration I call them the Ghost Sleepers because they are made like a sleeper coil but instead of being mounted on a 3 post it's on a 2 post one lead in the positive and one in the negative post so ultimately even though it looks like a dual coil it is the same ohm rate as a single they are 3.5mm ID so quads are like dual coils as far as ohm load so they ramp quick and can be run on my series mech mod.
