Hey guys, new here on ECF. I've been vaping for almost 2 years now, but still consider myself a newbie. I'm just now learning about all the various components that go into PVs (I just barely learned what PV stands for, as a matter of fact!).

I was running 3 EVOD 650s, topped with anything from carto tanks to Mini Davides. My mom is super amazing and has been rebuilding all my coils for me in the Davides. But since I vape a lot and like the sweeter juices, I blow through coils rather quickly. I'd like to take some of that weight off her shoulders and start rebuilding my own.

So my super dumb question is this: Do I do more wraps or less wraps for a lower resistance? Despite taking physics in high school, I don't remember squat about Ohm's Law.

you may find this site very helpful Coil wrapping to answer your question. with the same wire size and same coil diameter fewer turns will give you lower resistance but if that what your looking for you may consider a larger diameter wire to keep coil surface area up and heat down. with this calculator I aim for a heat flux of 130-150 to give me a cool flavorful vape. and the only dumb question is the one you forget to ask

@Hermit's Kid Hello and welcome to the forums. First and fore most, read up and get a good understanding of ohms law and battery safety again if you are going to be building coils. Also, make sure to check the ohms with an ohm reader before you fire it. Also make sure that your mod can fire the coil at the set resistance that you made it. You can find that here from one of our forum's battery guru: (18) Baditude's Blogs | E-Cigarette Forum It is nice that you are looking into doing your own though. It is really simple when you break it down. Hope this helps. Any other questions, do not hesitate to ask as there are plenty of helpful people here willing to help out when we can.

Don't build below about 1.8Ω on those 650 eGos.

Drat. That's precisely what I was hoping to do. I'm using 1.8 ohm coils now, but used to use 1.5 cartomizers... I was hoping I could get down to that with the coils.

I did invest in an eGo ONE VT a few days ago, and plan to rebuild those coils as well once I get some CLRs (with adult supervision, of course). Is there any type of wire material you folks would recommend, or a thread you can point me to that discusses the pros and cons of each?

On those little batteries, stick with Kanthal A1. The problem is the power source. Those batteries can't handle any amp draw above 2 or 3A. You have to build high value coils to stay within safe limits. If you want lower coils, you need more power.

with those type of coils, bettery to dry burn and rewick with cotton.
for recoiling might as well get a proper setup designed for rebuilding.
more and more tanks are coming with replaceable heads actuallly designed to be recoiled.
the subtank for example.

Gotcha. Stuck where I'm at on the EVODs.

What about the VT? Are there any major differences between, say, SS and Ti-200? (Staying away from Ni-200 for now since I'd probably do something stupid and end up vaping toxins.) I'm thinking about going up in resistance from the 0.4 ohm Ti coil that came with the eGo. As you might expect, jumping from the 1.8 on a 650 mah to 0.4 on a 2300 mah... I nearly blew my head off. But the flavor is phenomenal, so I'd like to stick with it.

I can't tell you about Ti wire, I've never tried it. I love SS wire all to pieces; it's simply the best wire I have yet found, although I still use and like Kanthal. I tried Ni200 wire and didn't like it much, and therefore gave up TC. But now we have SS wire and I am using it. Lol, right now on my desk I have two RX200s, one topped with an MT and the other with an Advken Ωega, both coiled dual parallel SS316 at .12Ω and running in TC mode at 90 watts, 570 degrees; and two mech mods, a Poldiac and a FUhattan, wearing a Sapor and a Mutation dripper, both coiled .4ish with 26/32 Kanthal claptons, and each one loaded with a different juice :) The VT will get you into a regimen where you can use lower value coils. Those eGo batteries just don't have the get-up-and-go for it. When using non-TC stuff, I find coils in the .4-.7 range, 20-40 watts, is where I like to vape. I wouldn't be surprised you will like it too from your description.

I've used the Titanium 1 wire for my temp control. The thing I like about T1 is you can build using contact coils, just like Kanthal. I haven't used it much as I'm building to .4 and .5 ohms with Kanthal and running power mode.

Just trust me on this.

Get the trusty 1/16" coil winding drill bit and enlarge One of the airholes on your Evod tank.

Wrap 6 wraps of 28 Kanthal on the same drill bit. Rewick with Rayon. Use that on the 2300. You will be
Shocked with the amount of vape. I call them Turbo Evods.
