First issue that I see is that you are trying to fire a 0.3 ohm coil on a battery that you have NO specs on...
That being said, it should fire up right away... how much voltage is the battery putting out? Is is freshly charged? Are you sure that it is fully charged? It should read ~4.2V on a volt meter.
Also "should be getting around .3 ohms." is an insufficient measurement... what resistance does the meter say the coil resistance is?

*edit to add*
0.3 ohms will draw 14A... if your unknown battery is a 10A limit battery, then you are seriously risking that battery deciding to vent and potentially damage not only the battery, but your mod and bodily appendages as well.... but, you know... it's your face man...

This post is filled with more truth than most are willing to accept as reality.

I was an ET in the Navy... and have seen some truly effed up stuff happen with low-ohm high current applications... Please be careful!

And, just to be fair... I'm not hatin' on ya... I've got 0.23 ohm coils in my Hobo right now and vaping fine... but I know what I'm working with. I measured my coils. My battery is rated for 30A. I know that my battery is authentic and not a rip-off, relabeled p.o.s., I've done my homework and I'm comfortable troubleshooting my own problems... you need to be able to say the same thing if you are going to play in the big kid's pool...

Some suggested reading material... click on the link in my signature titled "Bad's Awesome Blog"... there are 3 pages worth of additional information there that you need to read and understand.

I was an AT, myself... so, "Fair winds and following seas, Shipmate!"
I know exactly what you're talking about... and yes. Most people do not have a clue as to the potential danger they are putting themselves in with some of these set-ups...

I am genuinely waiting for one of the kids that work at the B&M's around me to blow someone up with these builds they're "providing" new RBA users... Just wow...

You are really vaping a power hungry coil. I would agree with the others that you get a good battery. But I would also say pull two of those coils and run a 0.6 ohm dual coil setup. I get plenty of vape and flavor at that build and don't stress my batteries. I would think that the coils heating up slow would indicate a real problem in that area.

I remember when I went to buy my first RDA and unregulated mech MOD. The guy at my vape shop (Vape 29 in Toronto) found out I had a toddler at home, looked and me and said "You have a kid? These are your options, I won't sell you anything else, and you still better be careful with it!" I would drop it down to a dual coil, and for the love of your face and finger, find out the specs on the battery you are using. Remember, trying to ask too much of a battery can make them go kaBOOM.

Vape safe.

I had a slow heating coil yesterday. Measured the resistance at .5. Replaced the battery same thing. My dripper was running fine at .4 on the same mod. Rebuilt the coil with the same results. Took the entire thing apart and cleaned it. Fired like a champ afterwards. Juices will find the smallest crevasses to dry in and make a crappy connection. Will still show the right resistance but not fire right.

Also buy a quality battery you can easily find the specs on. You're messing with your health working with an unknown battery.
