So I've had some unused flat ribbon wire lying around for quite a while, and since I've been making claptons lately, why not try...ribbon wire for the core? Well, of course at only .8mmX.1mm, wrapping around ONE ribbon would be silly, so lets try around 4.

It works. It is a bit of a PITA, but it works. I have a couple problems to fix, first of all, controlling the loose end of the ribbons. I had them taped together, but they still flop around like a wounded duck. I will borrow a fishing swivel from my uncle so I can secure the loose end with my vice next time. Second, I need to make sure the 4 pack of ribbons do not twist. Last, I need to take a bit more care in wrapping the actual coil. Drawback? Well, it is springy. First pic was after mounting, 2nd is after a little dry firing and careful tweezing. And wicking, ofc.

Oh, and the flavor is pretty good so far. After I try ver 2, I will know if it is worth the hassle over making regular or fused claptons.

Isn't the stacked ribbon core the staple coil? Pretty sure it's very popular. I've tried one of my friend's and I plan to just stay with my fused Claptons. Nothing against the coil, works great, I'm just too lazy. Enjoy!

There are so many stinking names it is nearly impossible to keep up. :D
