hi guys,a few months ago got the skyhook and it came with prebuilt coils which I found awesome. Does anyone know what make they are or where to buy them? Another quick questions the folks at my vape shop always told me to keep my volts between 4.2-4.8 I've recently got the skyhook rdta which I love as mentioned I built 5 wrap duals 3mm ohm at 0.133 and my Amps are at 29? Seems a bit high? I was also told that with electronic mods you don't have to worry as much as with a mech mod? Thanks!!

I'm not sure about the coils (I build my own) but them telling you that you don't have to worry about the voltage is true. The chip on regulated mods do all the figuring for you so you just set it and vape but it never hurts to know ohms law.

Thanks man! Right now I'm at 105watts and 3.8 volts 29.11 amps. Just found the amps a bit high. Any good links on ohm law? Like ohm law for dummies? Lol! I build but only on regulated mods.

Just google ohms law and read.

I ended up finding a couple options and wrote it down and that helps me remember. The pic I attached is what I wrote down and keep in my "vape room", then I took a pic to store on my phone in case I'm at a friends place, a B&M shop and building a coil or anywhere for that matter.

There are 2 options. I use option 1. After I do the calculations for option 1 I have my wattage. Now I want to find the amps that the coils I build will need from the battery. I will take the wattage and divide it by the voltage and that gives me the amps of that coil build. You want to make sure NOT to push the amp limit of your batteries because you will either get venting of your batteries or....BOOM!!!!

Hope this helps. If you have any other questions, ask. That's what we are all here for.

With a vw mod you use watts law, not ohms law to calculate the amp draw:

Watts / cutoff voltage (around 6v on the Skyhook as it's dual-battery series, but check the voltage at cutoff to know for sure) = amps. Note that you should also account for chip inefficiency so you should add 10% or so to the calculation

The amp display on the mod shows the amps at the atomizer, not the battery amp draw.

THAnks very helpful :) so watts divided by volts give amps i get that but what's the safe amperage? How do I find out what the max amperage is for my batteries?

Here is a pic I keep on my phone so if I ever need it I have it. Find your battery on the list and look at what Mooch has tested the battery and that is your max amp. Don't go beyond that. I usually build my coils (I run mostly mechs) so my amps aren't even at the max amps Mooch has tested for that certain cell.
