This is usually caused by wicking not keeping up with your wattage, make sure your wicks are not getting choked where they push through the deck also try alittle less wick.

VG can combust in the right conditions, I doubt its done you any harm but its best to try and avoid it happening too often.
No harm, just a singed moustache. Im gonna re-wick it a little better and drop the wattage.

It surely has changed over the years...years back there was so many threads about coil and wicking issues , because if you wanted a tank, you had no choice but to do your own coils. Now with probably 99 percent of new vapors starting out with drop in coils, there's not so much anymore....it's certainly nice to have a drop in coil tank running good while one messes with rebuilding, at least if you are having a hard time, you have a good tank with no problems. ..yep, most likely to much cotton somewhere and possibly to much power... .

Wet wick cannot catch fire.
I have concluded that the wick itself didnt burn, it wasnt even charred. The VG hit a critical temperature due to excessive wattage and combusted. I did not imagine the yellow flame shooting out of the drip tip. I even pulled the cap off and tried it again to see firsthand what happened. Again, i produced a yellow flame that surrounded the coils and wicks. And for the record, the wicks were fairly well saturated.
