As someone who has gotten cold sores every few years since I was a kid, believe me, if you've had them before, there is no way to mistake them for anything else!

Yes, they are caused by a virus that, once it invades, makes itself at home and sits dormant until you are weak...and then it pounces and makes your life miserable for a couple of weeks.

They can be triggered by so many things! Stress, changes in weather, too much sun or sunburn, too much cold wind, dryness and chapping, a cold, a fever, other illness, spicy foods, citrus foods, even a trip to the dentist if he spends too much time mucking around in your mouth and pulling and poking and prodding around in there.

Does vaping cause them? No. Can vaping trigger them? I can see how it might. Quitting smoking can trigger - it's a big change for your body to release the toxins, and the damned little virus might wake up to take advantage of it. Especially because of dehydration - that's the "in" the virus needs. Muahahaha!

The best defense is a good offense. Stay hydrated. Use sunscreen. Keep your lips moisturized. Eat well or at least take vitamins. Exercise to give stress an outlet.

At the first sign of one, get an ice cube and freeze that virus into place. It can't spread very far under ice. Apply ice until it melts, apply ice until your lips are frozen and you feel like an icicle. Take ibuprofen for the pain. Apply a cream with zinc - both for the sunscreen and to keep it from spreading. Take zinc lozenges, if you can stand the taste. After that, leave it alone. It will run its course and very little that you put on it will do much to help.

I can see why a supplier wouldn't give someone the actual recipe for one of their juices, but I don't understand not revealing how much PG or VG is in it. That just defies reason and I'm sorry, but "some" VG just doesn't cut it for me. High levels of PG just don't sit well with me, so for a vendor to not provide this information really kind of ticks me off!

I'm not exactly "allergic" to PG in the classic sense, but I am a bit sensitive, which is very different from allergic. Before anyone jumps all over this, I can also tell you that I'm sensitive to shellfish. I can still eat shrimp and lobster, but I have to be careful about how much I eat. If I eat too much, then I'll end up with hives on my neck and chest. I don't have the same type of reaction with PG, but if the level is more than 60% I get mild headaches. I do well with 60% or less in my juice.

I know, it is odd. A couple juice suppliers do this it seems.

Best answer yet,

Yes, I have suffered from cold sores for my entire life and there is no mistaking what I am experiencing is cold sores. I tried to vape last night on the opposite side of my mouth and guess what!! Got the unmistakable tingle on that side this afternoon!!!!. Luckily I am heading them off at the pass by O-D ing on lysine. Seems to be ok now!!

I am now wondering if I am having some sort of allergic reaction to the vapor. BTW, I am also experiencing some shortness of breath since vaping. This is all scaring the crap out of me.

As far as withdrawal from the analogs, I'm not so sure about that as I didn't go cold turkey, I still had about 5 or 6 per day while I was vaping.

One thing I will try tonight. I just received an Ego T in the mail today with some juice from Vapor 4 Life. Hopefully a change in juice will work. If I still have the problem then I don't know what I will do.

Wish me luck

Shortness of breath and a tight feeling in your chest are symptoms of smoking withdrawal. That's your lungs coming back to life after being paralyzed by smoke for so long!!

Hi All,

Ok changed over to an ego-t with different juice (Actually upped the Nicotine). 2 days so far so good. Old cold sores are healing. No new ones. I changed several things.

1: Take a 1000mg Lysine with breakfast and dinner.
2: Drink 1 glass of water as soon as I get up in the morning.
3: At work, Drink Water, Drink Water, Drink Water, Drink Water. then repeat.
4: Changed from the Smoke tip type of HW to Ego. (Probably had nothing to do with it, but I like the hits)
5: Changed from pre-filled carts to bottled juice. (555 Made in USA from Vape 4 Life.)

After maybe a week I will start taking multivitamins instead of the lysine.

Feeling a-lot better about this.

Alan
