The other night I parked my rig in WI and went to bed. I had left my pen style carts in the front area of the truck (driving area). I had closed the sleeper curtain and all the heat was contained in the sleeper.

When I woke I found that the front area was freezing cold. I had tried to use my pen style and it simply wouldn't produce more than a scant amount of vapor. I tried a couple of carts with the same result. Tried warming the carts and recharging the battery (the cold had drained it). Same result, very little vapor.

I don't have another pen style atomizer to try (yet) so am not sure if the atomizer may have been damaged by the cold or the carts are ruined from the cold. Anyone have a good educated guess?

I will say that the NPRO and it's carts still perform just fine although they suffered the same freezing.

I doubt it was the cartridges as they contain PC which as you know is used in antifreeze--my guess is the chared gunk in the atomizer hardened up in the cold and caused it to fail. The only way to tell is with another one. I will keep that in mind, but then again I always keep an eye on my penstyle at all times. (like you would if it was your last analog and the stores where closed!)

Yeah the fact that PG isn't prone to freezing is exactly why I used the title I did. It just didn't make sense that they would have been wrecked by freezing but I figured I would ask anyway.

Probably the atomizer. Kinda what I was thinking but was hoping otherwise LOL. I did try and give it a good cleaning but still no love there. Guess I need to be placing an order very soon.

When we work outside I do notice a decline in performance. (with e-cigs) One thing to note is that lithium ion batteries dont do well in the cold. We have cordless tools and chargers that must be heated up prior to use in the cold. For instance a cordless driver with an LED work light will light the LED when the trigger is pulled but it will not rotate the chuck.

Yeah I knew about the battery issues but have eliminated that as the problem so it was down to the carts or the atomizer. At this point I am guessing I just need to replace the atomizer and make sure it doesn't get a chance to freeze again.
