I attend Itawamba Community College in Fulton, MS. Very small, junior college with far too many rules. As of last semester, all smoking and tobacco use was banned from campus because of people abusing the designated area rules and not using the .... trays and smoking in the dorms. This is understandable. But what about vaping? I can vape in my dorm without being caught, for sure. Even if they saw it during room inspection, they probably wouldn't say anything. But would I be allowed to vape around campus and in class? I'm not sure if there are any state laws saying that it can't be done, but I do know for a fact that ICC's rules say nothing about electronic cigarettes. I'm just wondering if there are any general laws that say I can't do it during class.

I think that if you are going to vape, then discretion should be your watchword. Don't flaunt it, don't be too open with it and don't be too extravagant with it. When challenged, quietly and calmly point out that you are not smoking but using a personal vaporizer. Use a PV that most definitely does not look like a cig - no white body with tan-colored cartridge and red LED's - get an Ego or clone (the Innokin Lea looks like a pen when it has its clip-top on)

Vape, and wait for the college to change the rules.

The college I attend (University of Maine) has a smoking ban but I continue to vape. I have gotten the "stink eye" by a number of people but no one has called me out on vaping in public. I don't vape in the classrooms but if I have one of those dreaded 3 hour classes, I'll go into the bathroom or outside for some drags.

Technically, the FDA has decided to regulate e-cigs as a "tobacco product".
Just FYI.
See this thread http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/general-e-smoking-discussion/204252-frustrating-call-my-quit-coach-2.html#post3655001
and follow the link in post #43.
Myself, I'd do it unless asked not to, but that's just me

Nice one! I was going to add the same link. =) Kudos!

Yeah since it's technically labeled as a tobacco product now you'd prolly be pressin your luck on campus. That's gotta be hard for anyone who's "Jones'n" for some nicotine.

Do be honest I don't think you would be allowed to vape in class or around the corridors as people may find it offensive even though its not a real cigarette and I am sure they will ban e cigs as soon a start vaping in class anyway. If I was you i would use it outside as you would do a smoker as this shouldn't offend anyone it will do better for our cause.

At San Antonio College they also banned smoking on campus, but the campus is small enough we could walk to an area to smoke or vape. A couple of my professors didn't mind and as I was taking Networking classes and I got by with the geeky "Neat Gadget" thing. Also had a couple of the professors grill me about them for they're spouses, who decided to try them and quite smoking. Not to mention a few fellow classmates tried them out after seeing me and asking.
