...I feel like I just had my first child. Today, after months of reading around here and hours of watching YouTube instructions, I successfully built my first coil. I've been wanting to give this a try for a long time, so I finally bought a couple of feet of Kanthal 32 and some 2.5 mm silica wick. I rummaged around in my "parts bin" for a worthy atty to try it out on, and finally settled on the atty that came with the clearomizer that came with my first starter kit.
When I pulled that wire out of the package, I was shocked at how thin that stuff is. It was a bit fiddly trying to get it wrapped neatly, but I finally managed after blowing a couple of tries. First one I made I thought I put 5 wraps on but it only metered out at .9 ohms and the Vamo wouldn't fire it, ohms too low. So I pitched that one and tried 6 wraps, this one metered at 1.9 ohms, which was fine with me. I can see how, with practice, this could get easy.
I'm now sitting here with my original clearo filled with the first juice I ever bought and it's vaping better than ever. I think I'll try doing the Protank next, but I hate to ditch a coil that's still working.
