Complete change after cleaning

I am using a iClear x.1 clearomizer on my iTaste SVD and I was getting a lot of leakage and gurgling and my experience was very bad at first.
I decided to take apart the clearomizer and change the coils, and make everything very tight and so far I am getting a lot more vapor and have no leakage or gurgling.
My question is why exactly did this change? Were things loose? Was it the coil? I just want to know for future referance.

If it was leaky and gurgling from the get go, my guess is something wasn't tightened enough. If it got that way after awhile, it probably just needed a cleaning.

Not that particular topper, but I've had brand new ones come with loose coils. Pretty much guaranteed to leak.

I've gotten into the habit of tightening coils every time I open a tank! The constant heating/cooling cycles loosen mechanical components like nobody's business!

could of been a flooded coil, typically when that happens you'll hear gurgling and get leaks.
