Anyone else regularly blow the batt end of their attys out?

I do this every couple of days to get all the "sludge" out. Not really sludge, but the old juice that comes out is usually really dark almost like coffee color sometimes. I'd assume that this stuff might be what gunks up the coil, but I could be wrong.

However, it seems like I can go longer without decreased atty performance and having to do a dry burn to get the crud off the coil to get it glowing nice and hot again.

I used to flush them with water, dry burn, and flush again but I think that puts unneccesary strain on the atty.

Am I on track here or am I imagining things?

When I got my first e-cigs the instructions said blow on either end if no air was coming through. I had one gum up, so I used my air compressor. First I did the glowing side, then the other side with a cartomizer still on. It blew up! Big sticky mess. Also, I must've wedged a piece of lint or something down in the battery, cuz' it would light up but still no air went through. It sounds like canned air is better, but AVOID COMPRESSORS!:)

I use something like this at work:
AirGun.jpg

It's attached to something like 90-120 psi. No problems so far. Works great, in fact. I had been making my jaw sore trying to use lung power.

I use it gently. The trigger allows me to control the air. I haven't blown any of my atomizers yet.

Be carefull if you use an air compressor in that there is residual water and oil in the tank / lines of an air compressor. To see what I'm talking about, just unscrew the blow down plug on the bottom of the tank and feast you eye on the "yellow" filth that comes out of the tank.

Also be carefull when using canned air. Be sure to hold the can up right. As a test, tilt the can on it's side and do a test blow on something like your work bench.

Instead of blowing out carts or cartos, I think it is safer and just as effective to use suction from a shop vac.

Before I went to cartos, i used canned air to blow out my attys. I would also use the air to assist in a dry burn. Slowly pushing the button on the air, i would light the atty and keep air on it in intervals to keep it from getting too hot and blowing. I NEVER lost an atty. It clears the atty of all the foul smelling smoke as it burns too. I cleaned mine nightly before bed each night and it only takes about 30 secs.

I would never use an air compressor without a couple of in-line filters and water separators installed. The "air" that comes form most home owner compressors is not clean at all.

I went back and corrected my post for the PSI after I got to work and checked the gauge. This system has a pricey air drying/cleaning system coming out of the tank, as the air is used to operate some very expensive machinery. Wouldn't want that crap fed into them. Good warning though.

I think this sums it up best for most people.

I use our compessed air at work. We have air lines running all through out the factory. Its all filtered and its pretty clean. I've blown the air into a towel before and there was no residue, oil, water, etc.

So yeah I wouldn't recommend this unless you check to see the air is clean first. I should have mentioned that.

IMO the canned air isn't strong enough. I really let it rip with the air and get every last drop of liquid out of the atty. So far I haven't wrecked anything and they all work fine.

Of course this wont always work, you'll still need to do a dry burn everyonce in a while.
