Hey everyone,
I want to get a VV device (probably a lavatube or a variant like a varitube) but I have no idea what I need to use it. When I read about people's set ups, it confuses me and I just wanted to know if I can do what I was thinking. I know that the common set up is the tube itself with the battery. I also know that you need a tank of some sort with a drip tip to put on the tank. My confusion lies in the fact that everyone seems to use cartomizers with the tank. Do you have to use cartomizers? Or can you use a regular atomizer? Ive been using a Joyetech 510-t and the set up is a tank to the atomizer to the battery. I know APVs are different but I would like to use atomizers instead of carts. Is this possible with a common APV set up?

If I understand what you're saying-you can use any feed system you want. A 510 connection is a 510 connection, the device that you attach your feed system to is just a battery whether its a simple one or an "advanced" variable voltage one. In other words if it works on a Joyetech 510-T it will work on any device with a "510" connection. Hope that helps.
However I will bet that it won't take long for you to want to try a better feed system. I recommend Vivi Nova clearomizer tanks. Very good value and function for low cost.

You can use a cardo tank they work great, I use one every day. If you like attys there are several choices out there. There are rebuildable atty tanks such as the gennies style tank system, and the DID system. I do not have much experence with them attys are not my thing. You should check out some vids from pbusardo at tasteyourjuice.com or grimmgreen on youtube. Hope I pointed you in the right direction.

And what i meant is that usually when people talk about their setups they have a tank hooked up to a cartomizer (at least that's what Ive thought Ive seen)... all i really meant is that if i wanted a setup like that could I use an atty instead of a cartomizer?

I think all will become clear to you with a little time and research. Cartomizers are just one way to use a "tank". The word "tank" is used for different things. Many people are moving away from carto's all together. Personally I've never used one. When you hear the term rebuildable atomizer there is no cartomizer involved whatsoever. So yeah, attach it to your device and vape your face off!

There are tanks that use attys like The Reactor Tank and Accessories and the higher end GG UFS and probably others. Don't use them so don't really know what's all out there. There's also the CE2 style tanks like the Vivi Nova ( on same page as the Reactor Tanks) and the higher end stuff like GG Iatty, Oddy, and Penelope. All kinds of tanks are out there, not just polyfil carto tanks.

It sounds to me like you need some clarification! There are so many accessories out there that it can be confusing to say the least! One you get your device and the proper batteries, you need something that will turn your e liquid into vapor. All atomizers and cartomizers work basically the same. E liquid is delivered to a heating coil and you get vapor. There are atomizers that use cartridges or small tanks. Then there are cartomizers which are basically hybrid atomizers with a built in holding tank. As you do more and more research, it will become clear. If I were you, try something tried, true and simple! The Vivi Nova Tank as recommended earlier would be a good choice. It's easy to fill, low maintenance and also comes in a mini size. You could also try the Vision Replaceable Stardust which is also very simple to use. There are other variations made by several manufacturers that are essentially the same. I've put in some links that should point you in the right direction.

GV Vision Replaceable Stardust : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more

GotVapes VISION ViVi NOVA™ 3.5ml V2.5 REBUILDABLE TANK [gv-VIVINOVA-TANKV2.5] - $12.95 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more

GotVapes PHOENiX™ REBORN Bottom Coil XL 1.5ml Carto 2.4-2.6ohms [gv-PHOENIX-XL-2.4-510] - $11.95 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more

Good Luck!!!

The Lavatube you mentioned has a 510 connection, that is the most common connection. If you order a tank such as the vivi nova 2.5 version or the mini version, it will thread onto the lavatube. I have the vivi mini 2.5 tank with a standard ego type battery, it has a 510 connection as well. Basically all you need is a device/battery, such as the lavatube or ego, or any that have a 510 connection. The tanks, such as vivi mini or the stardust also have a 510 connection usually. When you are on a vendors site looking at a specific device the threading (510) will usually be listed under "product specification", if not email the vendor and ask. The vivi nova tanks are nearly idiot proof (I know because I use one Lol). Just screw the thing onto your lavatube or whatever you get, and then screw the top off so you can fill it with juice, put the top back on and vape, it's that simple! Well the first time you use it you should let it sit after filling for about 10 min. to let the juice soak into the wicks. I hope this helps you, it took a lot of time and reading on this forum for me to find out the differences in tanks, attys, cartomizers, clearomizers, 510 threading, 808 threading, etc., etc. I hope you have a better understanding now, if not just ask, someone, myself or someone else will try to will try to help.
