I'm thinking about trying a mod but don't know anything about them. Are they all drip or do you use regular tanks too? If I start using a drip, do I have to make my own coils or can they be purchased? I have a very busy life and the less work I have to put into something that isn't important, the better. I'm a single mom, work full time and go to school. The last thing I want to do with the little bit of free time I get, is to sit around constructing parts.

Aside from my other questions, I'm looking at a mod that's on sale and wondering, if I were to get it, what else I would need to purchase to make it a complete working unit... This is the one I'm considering

The "MOD" is the bottom part. Toppers are the tank/RDA/RTA that go on top.

There are mechanical (Mech) MODs and regulated (VV/VW) MODs. The one you are looking at is a Mech. They are simpler, BUT, can be harder to get the exact vape that you want. Most go with the regulated MODs.

Whole books can be written on this, so it is very worthwhile (think safety) to read what these terms mean. It is best, moneywise, to study. Also, consider visiting vape shops and asking them. Things are changing every day.

I read posts everyday, at least and I still use the search bar at the top.

If my thinking is correct, I would look to a VV/VW MOD and Nautilus tanks.

Good Luck!!

1: No. They have nothing to do with drip. Yes you can use regular tanks too.
2: No, if you drip you don't have to make your own coils; yes you can purchase; you can also buy 510 disposable drippers, but to save money you can just buy a roll of kanthal and wrap your own coils.

Get a regulated mod; you can later get a mechanical mod for backup.
A regulated mod will come with a screen that can tell you what's going on and whether you have an electrical short.

Get a good 30-50 watt regulated mod and a tank like the kanger sub tank (the one I use and love) or aspire Atlantis. Both will give you about as close to a dripper experience you can get from a tank, are easy to use, and you can just purchase coils for them if you don't feel like rebuilding, but are relatively simple to rebuild if you decide to try.
Seriously, I had to drop my Nic down to 3 and 6 mg in my sub tank, and I can vape 21mg no problem in most other tanks. This sub tank is amazing

WOW! Thank you! Frenchfry, I barely get time to come on here and ask questions. My little girl is reading to me, at this moment. Towelie, thank you, I vow not purchase it :) ocelot, I use a variable voltage battery by SMOKTECH, just a little better than my old Vision Spinner. I have a Nautilus Mini that I am very unimpressed with and a handful of the aspire glassomizer tanks. USMCotaku, I would love to have what you've got going on, I think

What I have going on is my personal vape nirvana :p we all line our vape just a bit different, but that's part of the joy of a good regulated mod....and the sub tank from kanger, it has many different options.... You can use the new occ .5 ohm head for an airy draw and warm vape almost like a dripper, you can use the occ 1.2 ohm head, just as airy but cooler vape or toy can use the rba head and build your own coils (it comes pre built with a dual coil .5 ohm setup).....and, if you want a much tighter draw for mouth to lung type vaping, you can even use the older style kanger dual coil heads in it........
This is my setup, a bit pricey but worth every penny.....

Sent with one hand, the other is busy vaping.

Love it but I'm really trying to avoid spending a lot of money. I have a hard time justifying spending a lot of money on this stuff. Maybe once I've done the DIY juices for a while, I'll save enough that I will feel ok with going with something "spendy". Did you buy that mod from an online store and, if so, which one?

I honestly don't know what I like as far as warm or cool hits but I've never liked real airy hits...not with this stuff I have here anyways.

As far as Mechanical mods go, I like a side firing button... but that generally has wires and isn't a true mech mod.

If you want plenty of vapor and a great flavor do yourself a favor and get a Kanger Subtank, you can learn how to rebuild it or just use stock coils, or the Aspire Atlantis ( my personal favorite )... then get the aspire CF SUB or CF SUB Mod as your battery... side firing button... both would be an awesome set up!

I am new as well, newer than you as I have never purchased one. My son helped me out a lot, in the end I ended up buying the ITaste VTR, all the reviews for it were excellent. I know you don't want to spend a lot of money but there is a old saying that I have realized to be true, BUY ONCE, CRY ONCE. The VTR comes with everything you need minus batteries and a charger. The VTR's can be found for $49.99 to $159.99, with the average around $90, it really is crazy. I found it yesterday on sale at Word Up ECig for $53.00 and they also have great reviews. As for batteries I bought the XTAR VC2, this charger isn't as cheap as some, but I have seen what happens when charging these types of batteries with a cheap charger and it isn't perty. I will do a review on it when it arrives. I hope this helps you a little bit.

As mentioned your best choice would be a regulated mod.

Now just go through all the pages to find one or more that appeal to you.

The eleaf istick is good for a small well priced mod. Though if you go down the atlantis or anger sub ohm route you may want a 30 watt or more mod.

Some mods have built in batteries others you buy batteries for and some mods have the ability to charge the batteries in the mod and others you buy a charger for.

I guess my joke was a FAIL then.

I'm sorry If you're making any reference to something about vaping and it goes over my head, it's just because there's still so much I don't understand still. I finally understand that RBA is a rebuild and I think that's a dripper. Don't know what RDA or TDA (I think it is) stand for.

RBA: ReBuildable Atomizer:
1: RDA: Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer. (No tank)
2: RTA: Rebuildable Tank Atomizer, (has a tank which feeds the coil via wicking)
3: RDTA: Rebuildable Dripping Tank Atomizer (has a tank which can be activated to feed drip; eg REO, The Big Dripper, 3D RDA)
