I know they make carto's adaptable to 510 batteries, but I'm curious as to how good the performance is. Would I be better off ditching my Vapor King and going for a two piece set, performance wise? I'm a pretty heavy vaper and I'm always looking for better performance.

The 2 piece system I am considering picking up are the Smoovs, with the extended batteries. As they are sold locally, I was planning to switch eventually when my Vapor King batteries went but I don't want to waste my money if it's not worth it.

I don't think battery or vape wise there is going to be much difference and there are plenty of great 510 carto's out there. I just don't know what they are I use a kr808 which is like a Smoov. Someone will come along and give you more info I'm sure. Most will in my viewing advise you to go ahead and upgrade if your going to spend more money, but having a place nearby that carries the stuff you need means alot.

I'm trying to move away from the cartridges. I don't mind messing with the juice, but you seem to need to refill much less often with cartos.

And that's kind of my thing. Not having to order online, I'm wondering if I should just get the new kit while I can, as the kits my retailer sells will come with enough juice to stock me for at least two weeks and several cartos. I know for sure I won't be making any return trips and the better battery is kind of sexy.

The 510s can use Boge cartos, CE2 or if you want to try cutting edge CE3 cartos.
For 808 types, I would recommend Volt from smoklessimage (MAXVAPOR for 5% off) I purchased a kit for my GF and liked it enough to add a kit to my collection. Their cartos are excellent, great flavor, good vapor, and even work very well on my various mods.

You can also get adapters to use any 808 carto in a 510 battery or 510s on a 808 battery. :)

I should also note that I'm not too impressed with the vapor production of the vapor king, to be honest. Nor the throat hit. I know that juices can play a factor in this, but altogether it seems kind of weak.

I'm not looking to collect, but I know a few friends I'd pass my vapor king on to if I liked the smoovs enough. My biggest consideration for switching is the convenience of them being carried locally, but that doesn't mean I'm willing to sacrifice performance.

I would suggest switching. I went from a KR808 Vapor4Life. Didnt like it at all. I currently have the ego T atomotizer. My favorite thing about that is the tank system. Its a clear refillable tank and it holds about 1.5ml in it. I bought mine at darthvapers.com. Easy refill, no leakage, and you know how much liquid you have left. Darthvapers is a good site because they have a couple of different models. My personally favorite must be the pen style. They also have ones with LED screens, keeping track on how many puffs you have taken. Browse around. Starter Kits - Darth Vapers

Before you decide for sure I'd check out the Smokless Image Volt as Stosh suggested. I don't know when it's going to expire but the coupon code SUMMEREND, all caps, got me 21% off on a bunch of juice today. It was supposed to be through Labor Day but they extended it a little. Over $50 got me free priority shipping as well. If you decide to get a kit the 78mm batteries are worth the extra dollar. If you decide to use an adaptor on your 510 their cartos are excellent as well. LF has adaptors for not a lot of money and the Boge cartos aren't bad either. You wouldn't need an adaptor for them.

Since you already have a mini, I'd get an ego. It's cheaper than other small pvs and you'll get 7 hours on a battery. Use your small pv when you want to be inconspicuous and your ego for home or when you need a longer battery.

I happen to like the 510 mini, I just don't like the short battery life or the fact that you can't use LR cartomizers on any of the mini's. The vape with a LR carto and a SR carto is night and day IMO.

You can get a Riva at Liberty Flights for $30 and a box of Boge cartomizers at Good Prophets for $5.99. Use the code TVCFriend for 5% off.

I don't know why people keep recommending that she get a KR808 when she already has one and isn't happy with it.

Swedishfish, I believe what she has is a 510 three piece and is looking at switching to a two piece. At least that's what I can see from the op and looking up her Vapor King.

Now I'm completely confused.

She has a 510 but wants something different? Well, I'd still say an ego if the mini's don't seem to cut it for her. I don't see a huge difference between them. Not enough to buy a whole new kit although I'm not familiar with VK. KR808s & 510's you get a decent vape but if it's not enough you probably need something bigger. But I think I'll stay out of this thread.

I use both

I use 510 and 510 mega xl (all manuals - safe from carto leaks, easier to get a good hit) with Boge standard resistance cartos. And I use Vapor4Life (3.7v, the standard size manual) with Vapor4Life WOW cartos. With the same juice, the 510 + Boge gives a moister more varpory easier dragging hit and the Vapor4Life + WOW carto gives a hotter drier hit with more TH. I like them both.

I also move the same 510 cartos to 3.7v 510-threaded devices (the Liberty-Flights.com Riva 510 kits are the new 3.7v ones, plus a Gotvapes "Ego" 3-stage set to 3.7 and a 3.7v mod box. And I have a 510 to 808 adapter to use those batteries with the V4L cartos too when I need more battery charge (those devices run the 510 cartos hotter than on slim 510, and run the V4L cartos the same)

IMO - If you are curious about the KR808D-1, you will eventually try one anyway - I started with a simple setup of 1 battery, charger cable and a 5-pack of sample cartos.

I enjoy both. BTW Vapor4Life is 3.7v, manuals are mostly sealed and have a normal size button. The other style like Smokeless Image Volt - rubberized finished, claim slight longer charge, I believe 3.6v was stated by someone from one of the companies (has to do with how the power is regulated), manuals are totally sealed on the threaded end but the button is tiny and partially recessed and a bit harder to press.

In cartos I use thin clear juices - 20% or less Vg and a couple of Vapor4Life WOW juices I like. And I avoid all juices that seem to drop flavoring sediment because that clogs a carto.
