Hey Everyone,

Thanks for reading. I have a few questions on electronic cigarettes. First here is my current situation:

1. I smoke about a pack a day. Usually just under.
2. I smoke menthol cigarettes.
3. The brand name is newports.
4. They are shorts.
5. I am not planning to quit.

With all those things in mind would anyone be able to suggest the e-cigarette that would equate to or be close to the things I listed?

Also, when I smoke I stop smoking when the cigarette is done(duh), however with e-cigarettes do you know when you actually had your fill or is it based on whether you feel you had enough. Thanks in advance to anybody who helps. :)

I can't really comment on which model to choose, I use the ego-T and I really like it. I find my vaping habits are much different than my smoking habits. Sometimes I sit and vape for an hour straight, when I am busy though I have a quick puff every 15 minutes or so. I get dizzy and nauseuos when I have had to much and jittery and irritable when I haven't had enough. Having different strengths of liquid is helpful. When I know I will be vaping for awhile I use a low nic strength, like 8mg so I can enjoy vaping for an hour without feeling sick, then when I don't have much time to vape, a couple puffs of 24mg liquid tides me over for awhile.

Glad you have found your way here at ECF. There is alot of very valuable information
for you to read and learn here. Ecigs are not as easy as going out to the local 7eleven
and purchasing a pack of cigs. There are some great starter units and the posts here
for suggestions to what models would suit you, are endless. Your #5, does seem a bit
odd, but one of the most beneficial benefits of ecigs, is being able to get off the analogs.

Vaping (smoking ecigs) is different but just as satisfying as the analog smoking. I probably
vape more than I puffed. But you may not be the same.
I'm VERY satisfied (compared to analog smoking) and have no desire to ever reach for another
analog, but to each his own, in respect to you having no desire to quit analogs.
Spend a little research time here, watch utube videos and ask questions along the way.

It's a great community and alot of great people. Hope to hear more from you along the way.

1. I smoke about a pack a day. Usually just under.
This isn't a problem. There have been people that are on pv's who used to do 2 to 3 PAD. If you want to quit, you'll find a way to make it work.

2. I smoke menthol cigarettes.
Not an issue. There are plenty of juice vendors who sell menthol flavors.

3. The brand name is newports.
Read the sticky about tobacco flavors. Just be forewarned that tobacco flavors don't taste like cigs. In any case, I can't really comment too much on this as I don't vape tobacco flavors.

4. They are shorts.
This isn't a significant point, unless you're wanting to have an ecig that is similar in shape. Warning (once again), the smaller the ecig, the shorter the battery life. This means more frequent battery changes.
[
5. I am not planning to quit.
This may be a tough one. Ecigs might not work? I went into this with the intention of quitting. When I started, I didn't want to quit, but was prodded by my wife. Or maybe I'm not reading this right? Not planning or not wanting? If you're looking for it to work, you can make it work. If you're not motivated, then there's a higher degree of possibility that it won't work.

Best of luck to you though.

With all those things in mind would anyone be able to suggest the e-cigarette that would equate to or be close to the things I listed?
I'm guessing something along the lines of a Bloog or Volt would do you well? I'm not sure if this is a good suggestion. Form factor, perhaps. PAD however, this thing won't last.

You don't have to quit smokes. Some of us set out to do it, others naturally and gradually moved over when e-cigs satisfied. If you're not sure this would be right for you, just get something simple (see Tutorial) and try it first. There are hundreds of flavors of e-juice, some specifically copying Newport.

With e-cigs, you can puff until the flavor runs out (when a cartridge or cartomizer runs dry of e-juice), count up to 10 puffs like what a typical cig would give you, or just puff until you feel satisfied.

Here's a link to a good introduction: Beginners E-Cig Tutorial

Good luck! :)

edit: See Forum Suppliers that sell e-juice and look for "menthol" or "Nuport/Newport" flavors. Everyone's taste is different, so you'll have to pick which is closet. Keep in mind no e-cig will taste like a cig, no burning and smoke in vaping.

I haven't finished reading all the replies yet, but I will soon. There seems to be a misunderstanding on what I meant by not planning to quit. I meant that I am not planning to quit nicotine. I am not planning on smoking both analog and e-cigs at the same time though. Is "vaping" the term used for smoking e-cigarettes? I am a complete newbie so forgive my ignorance.

When I grabbed my first digital smoke it was a disposable one and total garbage (tasted like it anyway and the batt did not last long enough for the 3 carts with it). I was not at all ready or planning to quit I was hoping to cut back on smokes. I am so glad that first junky one and overpaying at the mall after that did not turn me off to it, it led me after a google search to here about a month ago. I have lurked for the last month and learned SO much here including the mall guys were ripping me off and I needed a MUCH larger batt. I now keep the 510's as backup and am in love with the ego's I got (3 of them bases on advice from members here) and have been almost smoke free since easter but totally off analogs since Mothers day.
I am so glad for the help and advice here even though I was just looking in on it all people helped me and I did something I didn't even mean to do I am a quitter now!

Welcome to ECF,I'm a new member here myself. I was smoking just under a pack a day myself also menthol but Marlboro ultra lights. I just received my first PV 4 days ago. I ordered the volt setup from smokelessimage. At first I thought I'd want to vape something With the same taste as what I used to smoke. But after starting to vape, Vaping tastes so much better than the cigarettes do, I wasn't craving cigarettes as much but the first 2 days I still had a couple of analogs and the taste was bad and the smell was bad. Especially the smell on my hands and in my truck, Something I didn't notice as much when I was smoking.
What I did since I smoked menthol was get 36mg menthol juice, I figured you can mix menthol with anything and if I was still having bad cravings the 36mg of nicotine would up the nicotine level of whatever I was vaping. I know it's only been 4 days but so far it's working for me,Even with my girlfriend smoking analogs right in front of me.
Good luck with vaping, even if you don't quit nicotine it's definitely better than analogs

Actually, if you plan on quitting cigs, I will change me advice somewhat: since you are pack a day, get a bigger battery set, such as one of these kits starting @ $30 Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510, click "20% off" on top of page. I use a Riva 510, size of cigar, myself. The mini models feel nice, but battery charging was a chore.

If you want to try-out an ecig, the convenience store brand might work great for you to start. About 7 months ago I got an expensive mall kit of the same quality you get at a convenience store and it worked for me. I wasn't trying to quit. I wanted to use it in situations where I couldn't smoke. By the 2nd to 4th day (I can't remember the exact moment) I realized I hadn't had a cigarette all day. I went for bigger and better when I saw it really worked for my 1 to 1.5 PAD habit. I've loaned out that mall kit at least 5x and it was successful each time to get the user switched to vaping. A couple of them were chewing their nails waiting for a bigger, better kit to arrive. I pulled it out yesterday and used it. I was having a weird tastebud day - all my juices tasted funky. Instead of wasting my good juice, I vaped the mall ecig's cartos.

As much as we bash the cheap and wildly expensive cheaply-made ecig kits, they worked for a lot of us.

If you want to buy a quality ecig online, I'd suggest this 510 kit in manual or auto by SmokTech. There are only two pieces to it, a cartomizer (filter-like thing) and the battery. You get 2 ecig batts and 5 cartomizers for $28. You'll need some juice also. Small sample sizes are best until you find one you enjoy.

If you want to put your big toe in the water, here's a $10 kit. Choose menthol in the pulldown on checkout
GP 510 SUPER Mini kit
You only get one ecig battery with this one so be aware you may be pacing, wating for the batt to charge between uses. Nice price to try out an ecig.

Good luck on your journey. There will be bumps in the road but it's easier than I ever imagined.

I had a similar situation. I bought my first first ecig a year and a half ago at a neighborhood smoke shop. The battery lasted less than an hr on a charge, the carts gave little or no vapor and boy did I overpay for it .. Took a while for me to want to give ecigs another go but the information I found here, on youtube and on grimmgreen.com lead me to the Ego system and I am loving it! Still a noob but hey ..We all gotta start somewhere!

Thank you for that link I have a couple friends that want to stick a toe in the water and that is actually what the guy in the mall first sold me for (sit down) $30, yeah ouch. This is so nice though and I am going to grab a couple for the curious of my friends, cheap and I am still using that batt. even all these months later though I love my ego's.

Thanks for the info. I grabbed two of these during a sale to put in my and hubby's car-emergency-kits in case I leave the house without a PV. I've only charged them, haven't needed to use them yet. It's nice to hear that the little batts last a bit. A worry I can check off my list :)

Looks like you were in the same boat I was a week and a half ago! I started with Mistics out of a Pilot station. They actually got me off analogs in just a few days! I figured if they worked good then good ones off the net would really do the trick. I ordered a Halo G6 starter kit and I like it alot better than the Mistics. Newport was my brand for many many years, a pack a day myself! No pre-made juice I tried matched a Newport. I did find if I mix Prime 15 from Halo and Mint from DIYFlavorShack thats it's pretty damn close! Recently I mixed the mint with Tribecca and it's even closer! I still like my vape taste'n like a Newport, but I find the idea of have'n flavors more and more appealing. The G6 automatic is pretty close to the feel of an analog, and a G6 manual gives a better hit. As for how I vape vs smokeing, instead of take'n a smoke break every hour I just hit my ecig every so often. Sometimes I sit and vape a little while, but mostly I just take a hit from time to time. Hopefully I've been a help to you!
