Regardless of whether it is using my own nickel coil or store bought OCC. Been fine for about 3 months on both, but just started doing this. Though it might be my SX mini M, so built a new nickel coil for an old dripper and it works fine. Took the STM apart, thoroughly cleaned it and didn't see any obvious problems. Any thoughts other than get a new STM?

Are you setting the resistance when you place the new coil on? Have you tried tightening the bottom of the positive post on the bottom of the base? The only other place you could be getting irregular connections that I can think of is the top of the base above the afc ring. I've had one come lose before and cause me some grief. Had to take it apart (carefully because there's a tiny spring and ball) and clean it and tighten it firmly before it would work correctly.

Edit: I wouldn't even try using the OCC until you've identified the source of the problem. They are problematic enough so use your rba deck.

One more place to look is to make sure the Brass positive pin in the bottom of your Subtank is making a solid connection with the bottom of your OCC or rba deck. There were a number of issues with those early in production that were'n't quite long enough

Thanks for the replies!
Vlad, if the brass positive pin was too short to make contact, wouldn't I get the check atomizer message instead of the dry coil warning?

Again, both occ coils and RBA builds worked fine for the last couple months. I always lock resistance before vaping new coils and builds.

SXM and old dripper are working fine, just don't like dripping any more.

Only if it was completely disconnected would you get Check Atomizer message. If you have a partial or bad connection the device may think you reached temp due to the higher resistance in the bad connection and hit temp limit and display the Dry coil message.

Here's a pretty good video where they do a complete disassembly of the base, may help you identify if you have any loose connections anywhere there. Then you'd just need to make sure your RBA or OCC head is making a really solid connection with the brass center pin when attached to your device.

But to answer your question I'm running 3 Subtank Mini's with the RBA deck with both Ni200 and Ti without any problems. I have both single and dual air hole afc's.
