I've had a Smoktech ACE for a couple weeks now, but I've never fully disassembled it until tonight while swapping batteries. The control head is pretty much just like an SID or VAMO. This is the only tube style mod I've ever used to date, so I was surprised when I took the battery tube off and looked at the contact on the bottom of the control head - the area surrounding the pin has some greasy/oily stuff smeared near the edge, close to the threading where the battery housing tube screws on. It isn't really on the threads, it is on the white part of the base of the control head.
Can't take a pic right now, but this is an image of a similar control head. The oily stuff is near the edge of the white area, right up to the threads but no further. Kind of feels like petroleum jelly or something like that. I haven't had any tanks leak or anything like that, so I'm sure it isn't due to something of that nature. Should I be worried about it? Clean it? Or does it have a purpose in being there?
Edit: It's also on the threads, there are a couple of visible glops of it in the tube at the end of the threading.
