So the common ground between the two both ceasing to work is that their last charge came on my laptop. I have the laptop plugged in, with the battery removed (Laptop battery stopped working years ago). After being placed on it's default Innokin charger, it lit up as it does normally, but shortly after, when my fiancee tried to vape, it ceased functioning all together. This JUST happened to my mod, and I figured I got a faulty device. It seems the issue is the USB port on my laptop.

My question is:Why would this be happening? I can charge my myriad of other devices from that port without issue, from my tablet to my Android, and have never had an issue. In the past, that port has had some issues in terms of connection (you know, like when you have to wiggle something a bit to get a solid connection), so maybe there is some type of short Ecigs in particular cannot handle? Hopefully someone more tech saavy than myself can explain what's going wrong and why both devices bricked from that USB port.

Also want to note, long time lurker here. Great site, and I immediately sent an Email to my representative.

Welcome to the board. You are the second person today who has had a short life problem with an Innokin product. They're normally good stuff. Makes me wonder if they're having QC problems. I have no idea about the charging port on your laptop, and the only advice I can give you is "don't do that."

I have to agree.

OP, get a simple wall adapter (AKA wall wart) and use it to charge your CF4.

Innokin makes one, many vendors offer generic wall warts:

Dedicated wall wart, not one of an IPod/IPhone/IPad (these generally have an output of 2.1amps which will fry most egic charging boards). Another option is getting a plug adapter/surge protector with one or 2 USB ports on them, Monster Cable makes one with 6 regular plug outlets and 2 usb outlets. 3rd option, Belkin make a 4port USB hub with its own dedicated power plug, I use one of these for all my USB charge internal battery devices like my iSticks and Innokin MVP devices, about 0.5amps output through the USB ports, used this with my Egos way back as well, never fried a device yet.

I have these types of adapters, and typically use them. But in this day and age, I usually charge an electronic item where it happens to be easiest to use while on the charger. This is how my issue came about. What I would like to know is, what could be causing them to brick? I clearly know not to put a 3rd Cool Fire on the laptops charger, but I'd still like to get to the bottom of why it happened.

Thanks for all the responses.

I suggest you send an email to Innokin and ask them--maybe they know. And even if they don't, they should be aware of the problem!

why did the batteries in the laptop die? hmmm batteries in laptop die, mods die when charged with same laptop... maybe its the voltage output of the charging system not being correct... could be overvolting, could be a blown diode and creating AC voltage ( which destroys batteries) could be the regulation ( current) is non functional and doing a number on the batteries...

most mod/battery ( contained battery)issues arise from using the wrong charger...
