Read something about a copper center post being more conductive and will help with voltage drop. Its only 10$ but has anyone with experience using one have any advice on whether or not its worth it and will help?
For instance, a silver plated brass center post would be more conductive than a copper one.
The other thing to remember is that copper is soft and easily damaged. Not an issue if you have a floating contact post, but can be a problem over time if yours screws into place and you're constantly adjusting it. Overtightening can easily damage the threads.
