Copper Mechanical Mods (CLON

-- Hello, ECF community !

This thread was made to assist anyone in their endeavor to obtain a copper mechanical mod clone, or any first-time mechanical mod for that matter.

As of the moment, I have been using a nautilus Mini (1.6 Ω) on a Vision Spinner II. Thus far, I have been very satisfied with the setup. As I continue my journey to obtain the perfect vape, the mechanical mod has caught my eye. It appeals to me for its simplicity and ability to perform exceptionally well. However, I am most certainly not willing to pay upwards of $100 for the tube itself. And for this reason, I have found myself in the world of clones ...

I have been told that many clones out there are extraordinarily well-made. So much so, that it either surpasses the authentic version or comes close to doing so. I have also found that copper mechanical mods are excellent in terms of performance (voltage drop). I have listed below (in no particular order & not limited to), the following copper mechanical mod clones as reference to potential top performers.

=================================================================================================

Vanilla (Especially with a magnet switch upgrade)
Stingray
Cartel
Nemesis
Penny
Pegasus
4Nine
Sir Lancelot
SMPL
Manhattan
Akuma

=================================================================================================

If you have any recommendation as to which of these copper mechanical mods (clones) would perform best, please share your thoughts. If you feel that I left out a top performer, don't hesitate to mention it. If you recommend a particular brand name, please include the company in which the clone is provided if possible. I hope that the information shared here will not only benefit myself, but also other beginners and seasoned vapers alike.

Cheers --

I wish I had first-hand experience to help, but I've seen a few things on the forum that make me want the SMPL pretty badly; some rave reviews and really nice pictures. I won't be getting an authentic either, and there was a thread comparing the authentic to a clone, but I can't seem to find it. Suffice to say, I'll be getting a clone from somewhere, one of these days.

I'm also going to be staying away from the 4nine for a while. It takes some mech mod knowhow to deal with the hybrid topcap, and lots of new mech users go through grief with it.

Good luck on your search, and welcome to ECF!

ETA: To clarify: The SMPL has a nice pricepoint, only around $125. So there may be an authentic in my future, but not any time soon :)

ETA2, the re-editting: Here's the clone discussion thread. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/mechmods/620252-smpl-mod-auth-vs-clone.html

And here's the lovely picture!

Nevermind, forgot i had this pic.

The nemesis is a good mod. Recommend getting the magnet upgrade for the switch. What really sets it apart is the adjustments on it. Adjust the contact for the atty (screw adjustment not slip fit delrin). Adjust the throw on the switch. Adjust the switch to compensate for small variances in battery length. Different tube sections for 18650, 18490, and both of those + a kick. All those adjustments add up for fantastic low voltage drop connections when firing. When firing a sub ohm atty at 100 watts + you see real fast how good the connections are. If the connections are weak, the switch gets hot. I retired multiple mods because of connection issues. Nemesis really shines in that department, and after all, it's just a tube with a switch and atty connector. Surprising how many pretty mods misfire, melt springs, and generally require constant adjustments just to work consistently.

Oh, and I paid like $18 for it from fastech. Took two weeks to get here from China.

By throw I hope you mean the actual switch and not the contact. The contact in the switch of the nemesis is not meant to be adjusted. It should be snugged down at all times.

Penny is a really good mod dont listen to wraith about copper mods dying as soon as you drop em... Mechanical mods tubes are supposed to be more robust than conventional mods just because the the whole circuit is usually a bottom switch, battery in the middle and pin on the top. Started out with the curves then atom, then went with a Hana... But I'm sticking with the penny.. Try to get mods with floating pins vs ones with adjustable pins(screw type).. You'll thank yourself later...

i have an authentic amerivape buster (brass), then i got a FUhattan (copper manhattan clone),,, loved the FU so much I got the carbon fiber FU and they're basically all I use. idk what the deal is with the person saying if you drop them that they're useless. ive dropped both mine a few times, knocked them off a table or two and they work fine. Copper FU was about $35, carbon fiber was closer to $40 from 101vape
